with Saban getting BIG $$$'S to coach at Bama this is FURTHER EVIDENCE of how secure CG's position is here at GT.

To get ANY coach w/ a name would probably cost 500K MORE than CG's 1000K salary.

> or = to .500 in conference will keep CG here as long at he wants to stay.

That is a fyscal reality. Bowden, Beamer, Fridge, lil' bowden, and Davis all make more than CG. In fact probably 8 of the 12 teams in the ACC pay better than GT.

Just out of curiosity when you people apply for a job where is $$$ on the list of priorities?

CG will be our coach for YEARS TO COME unless he starts going below .500 in conference or he chooses to leave.

So what your saying Lawbee is that no matter what we'll be dealing with losing to UGA and non-top 25 seasons, which you love so much for a long time to come. You're an idiot.

If CG doesn't beat UGA and goes 7-6/8-5 next season, my bet is he is gone.

You're either moving forward or backwards and he is not doing either. We've been the epitome of stagnant.

I agree, either beat ugag or win 10 and maybe even 10 wins won't get him by if we lose another to them. I don't think the salaries will make any difference.

CCG is the 42nd highest paid public school coach in college football..that obviously does not include any private schools that do not report salaries like Notre Dame, Miami, Stanford, Duke, Wake, etc. etc.

Somebody call Taz.
Why? Dont forget money talks and BS walks. I dont see the Taz-man a real contributor to the former.
In two years, you'll be in line for a CCG autograph on an ACC championship program.

I personally believe that CG will take us to the next level which includes consecutive wins over Ugag and BCS games every few years.

But my point of this post is that 55k stadium schools are not going to be bringing in some of the names that get floated around this board.

Also if you hire a young up and comer IF HE HAS SUCCESS then there will always be a good chance you lose them to a school w/ a stadium bigger than 55k.

I am interested to see who would not leave their job for a competing job that paid 500k more?

Also what kills me is it seems people WANT CG TO FAIL. These people are IDIOTS.

If we have to hire another coach will be much more likely to do worse than do better. IMO

I make a prediction that ugag's Richt will start to come under fire in the VERY NEAR FUTURE and this will be MUCH more intense than what CG has received.

I'll take that bet BOR. 8-5 and Chan gets fired you say. What do you want to put on the line?

Lawbee the ultimate defender and our only UGA grad. Chan has been here 5 years. We have been amazingly consistent in those 5 years. 5 losses, no top 25 finish and a loss to UGA. IHMO this year was the year to make it with a very down ACC and UGA. We will not see this combination for another 10 years. The record speaks for itself. We will be basically the same year after year as long as he is coach.... mediocre. Many people think we can and should be better now not next year. It is not a matter of wanting him to fail it is a matter of watching the level of expectations lower for our program for too many like you.

I am well aware we return alot of players and had a good recruiting year just as NC State, Clemson, Miami, UVA, Va Tech and Maryland will and did. Actually Wake returns more starters than we do. What that says is the ACC will be up all over just as it was down all over this year. Finally we will get a good test of the well worn hypothesis that first year coaches take programs backwards or cannot win - Richt's results of course are ignored.

As long as CG has a winning record he will not be fired , we will continue to have discussions about why or why not he should be, we will still have poor turnouts for bowl games with a divided fan base and we will wait for next year while UGA breaks Dodd's record.

The only possible caviat to this is if Rad makes CG hire a real offensive coordinator.

Law_dawg has the broken record thing going.... "next year".."next year".."next year".... You blind loyalists Chan supporters have been saying that since his first year. And we haven't seen anything different. When is enough going to be enough for you?

Didn't we just win the ACC regular season with a 7-1 record??? I am not saying next year except for one game...and I do not have such an inferiority complex as to let one game ruin a 7-1 conference record.

Next Year, again...

I am no defender of Chan by any means, but we have made improvements each year I think. Very small improvements, but we are getting better. we have certainly made some of the same boneheaded mistakes though as well. So we have improved in some areas I think, but not all areas. I think the discussion should center around how slow is too slow. If someone is slowly making the program better, is that ok? Would you throw that person out to try and find someone who would possibly do it quicker, but at the same time, possibly take it backwards? I think we can all agree that stability is generally the best thing for a program - but eventually, I think that the pace of improvement will prove to be too slow if kept up at this pace...We need wins over UGA. We need good bowl wins. We need to have only 2-3 losses in a season (zero would be nice!). We need to continue with the recruiting effort that has been made this year.

Let me clarify that, I think chan gets fired with another loss to UGA and a 7-5 record going into prebowl game. But I'm not willing to bet on it because I know the alumni including the high dollar ones, are split right down the middle on the subject. If you think the boards are polarized, you should hear the stuff coming from the top shelf people.
