Yes, the 435 mile drive home after the game was not long enough for me to get over it. I am getting too old for being at BDS stadium for an afternoon game and then driving home to be ready for Sunday morning, especially after a loss to The Citadel.

I thought it was the worst coached game I have seen by a Tech coaching staff. The unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and personal fouls show a lack of discipline. The stubbornness to play 7 ahead of 8 at QB is indefensible. Lucas had two nice back shoulder throws that our receivers played well. That was it for any good plays from him. The team moves so much better behind Tobias, because he gives us a threat with his running ability. He had a nice throw hitting a receiver in stride. He did his part to pull the game out.

The end was a fiasco. The team did not execute the simplest of plays - the spike. Get on the line of scrimmage and stay still. The play after the illegal procedure should have been another spike. The failure to realize the clock would start back up is simply a failure to know the rules. In OT, changing QB’s on 3rd and 8 and not using your time-out was idiotic. You had just seen at the end of regulation Tobias was capable of making a big, game winning play. So we take him out and Lucas takes a sack.

My wife said something reasonable about 350 miles into the trip home, namely, that for our new coach losing the game was probably better in the long run. To play and coach such a poor game and win might have been the worst outcome. Welcome to Georgia Tech, Coach Collins. The loss to Furman was the most embarrassing to date at home. But, those Paladin teams were competing for national playoff titles. This Citadel team lost to Towson and Elon and is not expected to be the near the top of the Southern Conference. You have a lot of work to do. Your defense is weak. Your place kicking game is unreliable. You have to play the right people. You are going to have to hold players accountable. The offense lacks talent, especially in the line. The unsportsmanlike calls can’t be tolerated. You have to get end of game management right.

So, three games in you have work to do. The sloganism and false sense of cool bravado does not win games. I am pulling for you and will get my mind rite to keep making the long trips to support you and the players. Style is not unimportant. But, it always pales in comparison to substance. Good luck and Go Jackets!

    Well said.

This loss is going to hurt with the bye week. I expect to see tremendous development. We are a developmental program after all, right?

Let’s develop then. We could develop a short yardage package that’s under center. That’d be nice.

Spot. On. Insufferable humiliation at home and for all our faithful fans. Collins should be ashamed for thinking it was his game to throw away. Just makes you sick to think that this guy thinks it's about his destiny and his dream job. It's OUR Georgia Tech, Coach. You have to EARN the privilege. What a disgrace.

That’s the tag line. Hope to see it.

Short of getting rid of the o coordinator, picking a QB for the majority of reps or at least giving them a whole series would be a start. Perhaps, some accountability for personal foul penalties would help.

Thinking of changing my text to the destruction of the Temple. At least Tarheel and Wolfpack fans have little to gloat about. At a coffee stop on the way home a Dawg said he had heard we went into OT, but wondered how it turned out. A man’s Christian character can only be tempted so much.

I would've punched him in his mouth. I am sure Jesus and Paul Johnson would want me to do that.

    ...or is that wrong?

In the post game pressers, Collins said he told the team exactly why they lost, and that would stay in the locker room.

Several players mentioned penalties extending drives, guys letting their tempers lose control, and mental mistakes that got us beat.

I am thinking those responsible for the flags are being held accountable.

I hope you are right. How we play in the Temple game will tell us a lot about the character of the players and the coaches.

Tashard Choice knows what it is like to run behind a good FB at Tech. I think Mike Cox was his FB. You'd think Choice would have some input. PJ Daniels and Choice made good runs with a FB leading the way

I think this is true. I think it was Curry that said it's a defining loss only if they allow it to be.

So, if we lay egg in Philly, then careen downhill, it was a program defining loss. If they use it to regain their edge and focus, and keep it the rest of the season, it will be historic, but not defining.

Much of that, too, I think is on the coaches. Might be time for some tough love. I'm not sure everyone got hugged by the tunnel yesterday.

We will see how it plays out.

They converted 3 third downs by penalty. Two huge unsportsmanlike calls after a stop and an offsides. There was also an offsides that gave them a 3rd and 1, iirc or maybe a second and 1 late, which they converted.

So, there were at least 3 drives where we chose to leave them on the field. 2 of them are absolutely inexcusable, the unsportsmanlike. Just like ööööing Sneezy punching VT's QB after a 3rd down stop to help us lose that game late. Inexcusable. If Nick Saban were our coach, the sideline explosion on the first one would have GUARANTEED the second one wouldn't happen since it would have been clear to the team next öööö up like that is ALL YOUR ASSES

They lost because of poor coaching. No need to keep it in the locker room. It was on display for the world to see.

You’d think. I have a theory that CDP is a transition offense fall guy. Everyone knew this year was going to suck. Who in their right mind wants to attempt this turnaround as an OC?

Oliver (#22) got the first personal foul penalty -resulting in a first down after a third down stop. I watched him as he headed to the sidelines -the first coach who approached him gave him a pat on the ass, which pissed me off. I didn’t see if anyone got in his grill or not. He didn’t return the rest of that series and might have sat out the next one, I can’t recall.

Depth is an issue to begin with, so these guys have to keep themselves in check -I still say, among all that went wrong yesterday, those personal foul penalties, as well as defensive offsides, hurt as much as TO not playing QB the entire second half.

Sure we as outsiders can say that. I can’t guarantee you there were a öööö ton of missed assignments, efforts, and -1s and -2s (I don’t know how they grade either) on their grade sheets, but I will say the probability is high.

I hope the lack of sportsmanship wasn’t due to comments from the coach about beating a 3O team.

And how about some more tackling drills, especially for #2. Numerous times this season he has taken the wrong angle, and this time he had the guy dead to rights at the 2 yd line when he tried that stupid shoulder tackle instead of wrapping and driving him out of bounds. If he had done that, with only 20 seconds left we could have very possibly held them to a field goal. He needs to improve quickly this week or have his single-digit put up for competition.

absolutely right in that play. arms out and wraps up, and the guy goes out of bounds at the 2-3 yd line. big miss there.
