over the second half of the season. If someone asked you before the season started if you would take a 5-1 record over the 2nd half, regardless of what happened the first half of the season, would you? I would in a heartbeat. For as far back as I searched, we have only gone 5-1 to finish the regular season 3 times in the past 15 years - all under CPJ.

One of the best second-half-of-the-season one-loss teams in the nation imo. But FR FR I'll definitely take a build to a strong finish over a strong start/collapse, those are not nearly as much fun.

well CPJ has been around for most of the last 15 years, so you gotta go further back if you want to compare him

and he will hopefully be around for many more

No, I wouldn't do some weird pagan contract just to win 5 games in the second half of the season. But yes I'm quite happy with the way the team improved and beat VPISU and Georgia. It's been great.

Are you sure you didn't? :sqint:

If you sold Marshall, Mills, and another loss to UNC just to beat the nadlickers, I will punch you in the dick.

Then probably high five you.

5-1 seemed like a pipe dream coming off that heartbreaker to Pitt and staring down the barrel of a good GA Southern team followed by 5 teams that beat us last year. I think most would have taken 4-2 in a heartbeat if offered at 3-3 (maybe not if the losses included UGA). Bowl eligibility seemed to rest on the hopes of beating Southern, Duke, and UVA at home. 8 wins out of 13 games is pretty much the floor for an "acceptable" season. 9 wins out of 13 is one you can be proud of. 10 or more is a resounding success. We've got a chance to put the 9th win on the board for the 4th time in 9 CPJ seasons. And finish on a 4 game win streak.

Not sure when they pick ACC COY, but hopefully it's after Fuente gets crushed in the ACCCG / loses their bowl game and CPJ wins ours. Then we're 9-4 compared to his 9-5 with a head to head win and a 6 win increase from last year. I doubt they'd give it to CPJ when he has 3 already and Fuente won the division in his first year, but it's possible.

regardless of what happened the first half of the season . . .

Wouldn't this mean I'd have to be ok with an 0-6 start? Potential losses to Mercer, Vandy, BC and, at 5-1 in the second half, I'm not even guaranteed a win over the mutts? Pass.

Starting 6-0 in 2011 and finishing 2-4 was definitely disheartening, especially with a loss to the pups. Meanwhile, same number of wins with a win over the mutts and a 5-1 finish feels pretty damn good. Recency bias, I suppose, but it has really been fun to watch us down the stretch this year.

^ Weak. VT's been living off having BC as their cross-division rival for a decade now. CPJ walks into his house with a backup QB/BB/C and 3 frosh OL and stomps him.

Yep. Not their first time backing in and won't be their last. The sad part is that they lost to the other Atlantic doormat or it would have been a runaway in the Coastal

If you had told me when I was driving home from Chapel Hill that we were going to win out, I would've wrecked the truck. We looked awful.

My UNC buddies were laughing their asses off at the reverse fake FG. We're 3-0 since and they've lost to Dook and NCST. Never saw either coming.

The thing to always remember about UNC fans is they don't have a clue about football. None of them.
