I wouldn't read anything into it. Honestly, I wouldn't. If I were a betting man, I would absolutely take the over. No way in hell we don't win 7+.

The mean number of wins for the last 2 seasons is 8. For the last 3 seasons it is 7.6. If you include the last 4 seasons which is the only ones that involved Key as head coach the number is 7. So obviously they are doing more than just averaging recent seasons.
 
We have a tough schedule. Trade G5 for Tennessee.

We finished 2025 1-4, barely beating a bad Boston College team for the 1. We lost a Heisman contender QB. And the schedule is tougher. I think we will do better than 6.5. But I wouldn’t be surprised if the number was 4.5.

4.5 is insulting. The schedule is mediocre at best. I bet by season it'll be 7.5, just like last year

Love your optimism! I see 4 maybe 5 wins that seem fairly obvious. Several losses and several toss ups. Wins (Mercer, Colorado, Duke and at Stanford and BC at home). Losses likely Tenn., @VPI, @Pitt, @Clemsum, @Ugag. Toss ups that we'd have to win both for you to hit...Wake, Louisville. Wake should have won last season - apparently a decent hire at coach for them. We have not beaten Louisville with current head coach there. So maybe you are thinking the VPI, Pitt and Clempsum games are wins? I bet on us last season and won quickly thanks to our win streak. Not likely to touch it this year. Other more obvious selections to choose over our prediction.

4.5 might be on the pessimistic side but it’s not insulting considering 2025 in its entirety and 1-4 finish— a tougher schedule, and we lost arguably the best QB we’ve had in over a decade. And we will hand an entirely new offense under a new OC.

I think I'm going to have to get a sign on gameday or something this year. Their streak is currently at 5. The cowardice of canceling the game in 2020 rather than face a bad, reeling Tech in the cesspool is probably the most pathetic act in college football history and nobody should be letting them off the hook for it.
