Nice to see GT re establishing a recruiting footprint within the state. I know that GA has a deep pool of talented DIV I prospects this year so it makes it easier but just wanted to mention that it's nice to see them come from NEAR (& FAR to play for the JACKETS.....P.S. is awesome that we are pulling several of these recruits from the teeth of other MAJOR PROGRAMS....can't wait till all these prospects make their verbals STICK in INK in FEB......
GO JACKETS

just wanted to add the fact that these are quality players as well & I am not advocating passing up a better athlete from another state just to sign someone from GA....just an observation of how many GREAT ones we've gotten verbals from & the fact that the majority of them are from our home state of GA....always take an extra bit of pride in knowing that we're beating out UGA for some of them as well....always good day to kick a DAWG!

agreed. One of the best ways to get more fan support is lots of kids from in the state. If theres some sort of connection, however thin like, "I played HS ball against him", "He's from 2 counties over, what a beast", etc then theres a real good chance you're going to pull for the kid as start to feel a little love for their team.

Recruiting GA is extremely important, and I believe most years theres more than enough talent coming out of the state for us to be 60%+ in state and the rest from Fla, Alabama, Carolinas, etc, with a few kids from around the country thrown in for good measure.

Couldn't agree more.

That way, we can still keep up with the strides we've been making recently, especially in Texas.

I already am salivating about the 2008 potential. We get to sign 30 or more? WOW. Think of the implications...

In-state scholarships are also cheaper than out-of-state. Just one more positive for in-state recruitment.

While I have no proof that high school classes from recent years had a similar number of top prospects eligible for Tech, I don't buy that academics was the only problem. Recruiting is a lot better, period.

The biggest bonus as everyone realizes is that freshman and sophmore players from these Ga. schools will follow their high school heroes that are now committing and signing at Tech. These kids are the new fans that we need. They will understand that making good grades is how they will be able to say "It's Great to be a Yellow Jacket".
