Wes and Gailey talk about the NC game not being a pretty win... but it was a win nonetheless...
Gailey talks about the kicking dilemma.... Burnette kicked yesterday in practice... Manget is going to try again this afternoon... but he may be held until the Maryland game.... would probably have tried someone else kicking rather than taking Jordan off of his redshirt year status... also talks about the teams abililty to deal with adversity... is really proud of them for dealing with things the way they have...
Gailey: WF is the best team in the nation with a losing record... they are dangerous... a good football team.. just havent won games.... thats really the difference between Tech and WF right now...
Caller: Proud of the way the team responded on Saturday... seems like AJ hasnt thrown over the middle much... is it that he is not comfortable there.. or is it by design... and what about Gathers medical redshirt...
Gailey: Wont know about the Gathers redshirt until after the season... seems to be a 99.9 chance of it happening.. but you are never sure... what is happening with our offense this year is that due to the stacking of 8 men in the box to stop the run... it takes the middle away in passing... but opens up the outside... so, we are just trying to throw it where the defenders arent...
Caller: Gets a little nervous with Rhino not calling for a fair catch...
Gailey: They have talked to Rhino about that... but he gets fired up and wants to make a play... dont want to take that away from him... but we need to play careful
Caller: Was there more damage or less damage in regards to Hollings knee
Gailey: Feels like it will be a smooth, clean, full recovery for next fall... everything went fine...
We are not getting many opptys to return punts becuase teams are short punting us due to Kelly's ability to return punts... Raye is working on ways to help us get around this...

Wake Forest has a streak of 12 0f 15 or something like that where they have lost games by 7 points or less... Grobe has the program going in the right direction... They are a good football team... Offensively, they just run at you.. not as spread out as Clemson... employ the old I-bone formation... they are finding different ways to run the football.. they dont want to throw it...
They have only attempted 97 passing attempts but have earned over 600 yard passing ... they are not a big pocket passing team... better make sure the rush lanes are protected... if we allow him to get out of the pocket and throw, we could get burned...
Notes.. there will not be a call in show next week... the next show will probably be on Tuesday, Oct 15....
Wes talks about Bilbo... was the 4th down play drawn up...
Gailey.. you have to give Kerry alot of credit to keep the play alive.... and for Bilbo to stand in there .. take the shots and make the play was big... Bilbo is learning packages... he is coming along... we are trying to give him packages so he can go into the game and execute those packages... NC didnt slow Bilbo down.. Bilbo slowed himself down with the sack and interceptions... but there was alot of progress made... and some things accomplished to build upon.
Classes cancelled at FSU today and tomorrow because of the Bowden Bowl ...
Caller: Question about Wake giving up alot in the 4th quarter.. is this due to condiditioning... and what will be out plan of attach...
Gailey: Our plan will be to be WAY ahead in the 4th quarter... not sure what their 4th quarter problems are... but history will tell us that it will probably be close in the 4th qtr... and hopefully we are just mentally prepared to finish it out...
Wakes best offensive quarter in the 2nd qtr... Gailey says that we have to assume that it will be tight in the 4th quarter... we have to shut down their run.. and not allow the big plays to happen....
Gailey and Wes discuss Hester and the good play he has given this year... as well as Cox... he has been a solid technician... played his position very well this year..
Caller: Could he talk about the kids he was going to redshirt... and what about a medical redshirt for Sidney...
Gailey: Gailey feels that if Ford cant get better in 9 weeks.. he would be nervous ever playing him again... the RS has been considered... but from the standpoint of looking at things from a fathers perspective... he would have a hard time throwing him back out there with the slow recovery from concussion... in terms of recruiting .. we are redshirting Brezina, Matthews, and Pullen.. McQuire.. McHargue... Cooper, McNair... IF WE CAN... you never know how injuries will play out the remainder of the year...
Wes asks Gailey about the concussion syndrome (Steve Young)... you dont hear about it much in college... Gailey wants to make sure we are smart in the way we handle this... and not just look at this year... but his whole life... even if we do redshirt Ford... do we really want to take that chance with him... just not sure.. wants to make sure we dont do anything to endanger him permanently...
Gailey: This week rushing defense will be a big key... as well as the kicking game... we have to shut down the run this week... and special teams have to execute this week.... 3rd down conversions are a given every week... we have to convert 3rd down....
Caller: Question about facemask calls in the BYU game... time of possession vs Wake... where is Ather Brown, Hatch, and Tabugbo...
Wes comments on the refs... only says that it was the same guys that reffed the Gator Bowl against ND... facemask non calls were a problem in that game too...
Gailey: time of possession is an important factor this week... but it is so every week... but thats 3rd down conversions too... we need to stay on the field...
Ather is an excellent ball player.. the biggest thing is who is going to come out to put him in... Tabugbo has been hurt most of the year... Hatch is on the scout team right now... just has not been running well this year... he doesnt look like the same guy that ran in the Peach Bowl against LSU... Gailey mentioned that he even watched that film again this morning... and that he really expected alot more out of Hatch than has been delivered... Hopes we can get there with all three of these guys eventually...
