A black coach should be considered...

Charlie Strong's name comes up a lot including when we hired Gailey. He gets interviews but hasn't closed anyone on a job yet.

But when it takes someone like Fridge over 20 years to get even one interview despite actively campaigning for an HC job for decades then I don't think anyone really has too much to complain about.

Okay--I disagree, but suggest someone. And remember Ty Willingham is taken. Doug Williams is here with the Buccaneers, but he was ordinary at Grambling. Charlie Strong is co-defensive coordinator at Flarda. Tony Dungy won't answer his cell phone. Mike Tomlin is tied up with the Steelers. Sly Croom has a gig. Singletary's available.
I thought the ultimate goal was to get to the point where color was not a factor instead of THE factor. Let's focus on the best coach for Tech.

Yes, with Paul Hewitt being president of the BCA, we will definitely interview minority candidates. Charlie Strong and Ty Nix are the names I understand we're talking to.

We keep talking about black coaches, but I just don't see all these candidates out there. I mean out of all the BCS-level OCs and DCs and lower-level HCs, how many of them are black? I would guess only about a handful.

It's about low probability, not discrimination.

Well maybe we need to interview a woman to really address a shortfall.

How bout we hire the best coach available, regardless of creed, religion, national origin, etc. I haven't thought one bit about what color the candidates are.

That Kansas coach makes Friedgen look like Tom Petty.

Wonder how much of his butt-crack shows when he bends over? One look Into The Great Wide Open of that would be enough to give you a Full Moon Fever for sure. Damn (The Torpedoes), You're Gonna Get It if you look at that Long After Dark.

How do we know it's not posted? Are you a member that can log in and see what school this is for (last one on the page)?

EECCK! Wrong answer.

A 'black coach' should not be considered anymore than a purple coach.

We might consider a MINORITY coach but the best man still gets the job.

'Preciate the ignorant racism though. Means alot. And don't forget to cast your ignorant vote in OUR next elections. We NEED more BLACK folks.

Yeah. Right.

gnats67, you're missing the point. And your sillly little shot at me being an ignorant racist makes me laugh. We've obviously never met and if we have you must be blind.

Would it be consider irony if our own minority head coach protested that we chose to not consider a minority head coach?

Post the job? Do we really want a coach who doesn't know the position is available? What coach doesn't read ESPN regularly?

On hiring a black coach - if one is available that is qualified, I'd welcome him with open arms (not literally). A black coach would certainly bring in more Atlanta residents.
