1) RALPH FRIEDGEN. He hasn't had the quarterback he needs but man he puts out good OL (he was down to freshman this year). With our young guys, man look out. Just pick up the phone and make it happen. He can generate recruits out of Georgia immediately.
2) Rick Neuhisal. My first impression was yuck. He certainly has a reputation to live down. But I must admit that based on some of his interview answers, as well as his recent references, etc, HE COULD REALLY BE WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR. I was a FOC, I am conservative (but not on the field of play).
But I am also competitive and I think that RN enjoys competing and is at his best when he's a little cocky. People here attack him for having a law degree. I can see a cocky young competitive football coach reading the NCAA rules and "working the system" to his advantage. Sorry folks, but that's what winners do (and lawyers for the verbage folks).
Like it or not, but go look at the coaches who worked the rules to their advantages in the past. They all won, until the NCAA changed the rules (and later). If you want to compete at the highest level you'd better be ready to squeeze everything you can out of the rules, etc. I am not saying "let's cheat" (look back in history at the Georgia's, Miami's, Alabamas, LSU's, Connecticut (bball), etc. There are a whole lot of NC that occur just before probation set in or rules changes) but I'd personally love another young cocky competitive offensive minded coach right now holding court in Atlanta.
Our program needs it badly right now. I'd love to see RN squeezing the local media, turning it up on Richt, etc. Based on the interview, based on "keeping it clean", etc. RN could be a really smart get for us.
3) Randy Edsall. I have nothing against him, nobody does. He is the very typical head coach that we hire. If that's what we need right now, so be it. I suspect there will be a changeover period with him and that would be fine with me too.
4) Will Muschamp. I don't know him. DRad throws his name out there so people can get over the Dog thing. I'm over it now. Again I think there is a changeover period with him too and that would be fine with me. I'd prefer the smart cocky kind of coach right now instead of the Bunting head butting type, but my perception could be totally wrong and I have no choice but to trust DRad.
5) Paul Johnson. I still believe we are waiting for the end of the Army-Navy game. But I have to trust Dem and the rest of the AA, so I guess not.
6) Chris Hatcher. I am willing to throw the program into a 33 year old's hands with extremely limited Div 1 experience. I don't know why but I think it's because I really believe we'd do better with the offensive guys than the defensive ones right now. We had a defensive minded offensive head coach recently, I just think the game is changing and I'd like another try with an offensive minded offensive coach.
7) Tenuta. Otherwise just hire Tenuta and either we fail or not. The program continues, you'd know in a matter of two years if it wasn't working out. And the next Hatcher will be ready by then.
One other thing. I think the whiners about Chan better stand up and be counted now for something different than Chan to end up as our head coach. You wanted the risk now accept some.
