For the first time in 3+ season's, I am writig a pro RB post!
For the first 26 minutes of the game, I thought Reggie Ball looked like a good college quarterback leading his team. He will always throw off his back foot, but the majority of his balls went to open receivers and most were catchable. He lost a nice gain and a 3rd down conversion on one when either Dunlap or the other Johnson had a ball go thru his hands. There appeared to be plenty of YAC lost on that one.
He looked good rolling out, and threw more accurate long balls than he ever has.

When he hit Calvin that gave us the ball on the 12, I actually had a vision that we were about to blow them out. Of couse we know that the gears seized up at that point.
What I want to know is why?

Play calling. Early on we were running the kind of offense Reggie can do well in. After the long throw to Calvin, we reined it in. Nothing to do with the players IMO, it was the coaching staff.

In 100% agreement with you Pocket. I was very pleased w/ RB's play last night. I also thought we were on our way to rout after that long completion to CJ. Just like ncjacket said, after that long pass, we went conservative and the result was us losing the game.

To be honest, I am very excited for ACC play. If we can play like we did the first half in all of our games, there is no reason we shouldn't win 9 or even 10 games, but if we go conservative like we did in the first half, it could be an 7 to 8 win season.

Yep. We went conservative, hoping the D could win it for us. I don't think RB is a great college QB, but at least he did not make killing mistakes on Saturday. Maybe Nix wanted to run a simplistic scheme to keep him from making errors, but whatever the reason, we did nothing after halftime to keep the ND edefense off-balance and guessing.

I actually thought at the half that we were finally going to see CJ's talent used for an entire game, but I was disappointed again.
