Q: How topsy-turvy a year has it been already in the conference?

A: I tell you, there's been a couple of great coaching jobs in our conference this year. The guy at WakeForest-- that's just a phenominal coaching job. Then Chan (Gailey), Georgia Tech doing what they did. I mean, losing all the kids he lost, thats just amazing.

Q: How tough a job is Georgia Tech, since its a high powered engineering school, and there don't seem to be any easy courses?

A: Do they still have Industrial Management? (laughs) They've got a chance. I really think Georgia Tech could be as good as anybody in the country. I think Md. has the potential to be a great one. I think Georgia Tech-- they won a national championship about 10 or 12 years ago. It is an excellent academic school. But most people have a departmentwhere a lot of the players will go to. I remember back when I was coming up, we used to kid about Industrial Management at Tech. Its an engineering school, but ain't nobody taking engineering. Like that kid that wanted to go to Georgia Tech to be an engineer, because he always wanted to drive one of them trains. (laughs)

Apparently, Bobby B knows as much about our curriculum as he does about ethics and discipline.

Back when I was in school, there was a major called Industrial Management, and the students did not have to take Calculus or any other engineering type classes. So Bobby is not too far off with that comment. It sounds like he may be commenting on the fact that Tech does not have a major like that any more, and so it becomes a greater challenge to have a national championship caliber team. I like the props he gives to Chan. Bobby knows smart coaching when he sees it.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">It's just called Management these days, and it requires 2 semesters of calculus, 2 semesters of hard science (e.g. Physics, Bio, or Chem), a semster of computer programming, and a semester of Statistics.

If anything, I thought the core requirements had been tougher in years past.

Hey, when you ain't got an absolutely knowledgeable truthful answer. Crack a joke and get off the subject.......Bobby is grand, I love him as a Christian brother, but he is a sneaky devil. At the same time able to keep the news guys off balance with such a plausible personality. I hope we do as well at being the team and coaching staff that we can be as BB does at being the coach he can be (I just hope his players have a sub-par afternoon).
