Good news is that it’s not Jimmies and Joes that are the main culprit. The Dline didn’t actually play too bad during the Bowling Green game.

The bad news is they are HORRIBLY COACHED:
Watch the last 20 minutes or so where the guy breaks down film:

Why did you do that to yourself? Are you one of those massivequists?

I watched it last night then proceeded to drink lots of bourbon. But at least it makes me feel like corrections can be made

only problem is guy talking on the podcast doesn't work for the team so maybe they can't

We obviously don't do that adjustment thing at halftime, so until contra-evidence is presented I question our ability to correct anything.

Yeah fair. It was interesting however to look at why there were so many busts. The linebackers and safeties don’t know where they should be!

It’s not that we don’t adjust at halftime. So here’s the deal -delete this post in one hour- so when we go in at halftime having given up 17 points or whatever, the coaching staff of the other team expects us to make substantial adjustments for the second half. BUT, the joke is on them- they are playing checkers while our coaching staff is playing 4-D chess and- you are not gonna believe this- we don’t make any adjustments! A genius move, if you ask me. The other staff look at each other and go - “so their adjustment is to not adjust?!?!?!” - then, realizing we just coached circles around them, they throw their clipboards in utter dispair and futility.

So they have no choice but to throw away all the adjustments they planned at halftime in anticipation of our adjustments and revert to the game plan they used in the first half.

25% of the time, this works 100% of the time.

How we aren’t undefeated is just the blind luck of the other sideline. It sucks to lose to somebody you just outsmarted the hell out of.

The Kiffin quote after the Ole Miss game was telling. He said they waited to see how we were defending them and it was just like last year. So they switched to the playcalls that worked last year.

Yeah, good coaches don’t even give us a second thought these days. Their incessant whining about CPJ paid off tenfold for them. They got our own fans to turn on his old school offense and now they no longer have to waste any time in spring, preseason, or game week preparing for GT. Kiffen simply says what they all think.

Unfortunately we still have the same coaches. I am not sure changing the titles for two coaches will turn this around.

The tackling is an effort issue. If you are playing defense for a P5 team, you should know how to tackle.

Or a technique issue. You’ll never convince me that running around and “tackling” a foam gymnastics ring is a substitute for live tackle and mat drills.

Do we still use the big orange donut? I haven’t seen it in the pregame this year.

Looking at those replays, just look at the void up the middle immediately following the snap on every defensive play. It's scheme. Scheme that has a trailing DE or LB have responsibility for the 3rd receiver rather than just flats. It's especially an issue when the LB run fit is A gap and he's supposed to also cover the TE sliding across.
