I'll preface by stating my scepticism of the following scenarios playing out --but for the most part what follows IMO is the most realistic week-by-week scenario in order for the ACCCG to place GT on the marquee in 2007.
Week of 10/20
UVA .. 3-0 ...@ MD -L
VT .... 3-0
GT .... 2-3
UNC .. 1-2
UM .... 1-2 ... @ FSU -L
DU .... 0-4
Week of 10/27
VT .... 3-0 ... v BC -L
UVA .. 3-1 ... @NCSt -L
GT .... 2-3
UNC .. 1-2 ... @ WF -L
UM .... 1-3
DU .... 0-4 ... @ FSU -L
A very important week for GT and it's a bye week. The significance of the games in read will magnify as we move along.
Week of 11/03
VT .... 3-1 ... @ GT -L
UVA .. 3-2 ... v WF -L
GT .... 2-3 ... v VT -W
UNC .. 1-3 ... v MD -W
UM .... 1-3 ... v NCSt -W
DU .... 0-5 ... v CU -L
Week of 11/10
VT .... 3-2 ... v FSU -W
UVA .. 3-3 ... @ UM -L
GT .... 3-3 ... @ DU -W
UNC .. 2-3 ... @ NCSt -W
UM .... 2-3 ... v UVA -W
DU .... 0-6 ... v GT -L
Not a good place to be in --trailing two teams in the standings and you have completed head-to-head against both.
Week of 11/17
VT .... 4-2 ... v UM -W
GT .... 4-3 ... v UNC -W
UNC .. 3-3 ... @ GT -L
UM .... 3-3 ... @ VT -L
UVA .. 3-4
DU .... 0-7
Week of 11/24
VT .... 5-2 ... @ UVA -L
GT .... 4-3 ... v UNC -W
UVA .. 3-4 ... v VT -W
UNC .. 3-4 ... v DU -W
UM .... 3-4 ... @ BC -L
DU .... 0-7 ... @ UNC -L
It's asking a lot for the scenario to play out with UVA losing every game and then turning around and defeating VT.
Final Standings (?)
GT .... 5-3
VT .... 5-3
UVA .. 4-4
UNC .. 4-4
UM .... 3-5
DU .... 0-8
Of course various scenarios could play out to move GT to the top of the Coastal --but again, this IMO is about as realistic a set-up that I can come up with.
Back to the week of 10/27 --I really don't know if NCSt is capable of defeating UVA. As for VT v BC the same weekend --other than @ CU (maybe) this will be BC's biggest remaining ACC test. If VT were to win this game and then all bets are off for this scenario.
If VT were to lose to BC but UVA win against NCSt --then ditto this scenario-- GT, VT & UVA would end in a three-way tie. VT would be out at 0-2 vs GT & UVA, GT & UVA would be 1-1 with UVA holding the edge over GT.
