A Reasonable ND Fan

I feel your pain I have been feeling it for 5 years now! If any coach in America can screw up a game it’s Gailey! Get him in 4th down and he will spike the ball or throw it out of bounds. That’s Gailey ball.
That "throw it out of bounds on fourth down" WAS a pretty stupid play call. About as bad as that "fumble the ball" call he made last year. I don't know why we keep putting Gailey in the game during these pressure situations.

Lets see my first post on this place in about 8 months no I'm not fortebuna but do know the guy on a personal basis. Tech grad and extremely nice guy. So what did he say wrong? I read his post on the ND site and many times in the AJC yet to find him wrong. As for his talk about the throw and spike etc where was he wrong? Is it not the head man responsible for teaching QB whats right and whats wrong?

The spike and throw out of bounds was Nix's fault, not Gailey's, at least not directly. Nix called the no-huddle before he became the true OC. He and the offensive unit thought it was 2nd down and he wrongly called for a spike. On CBS, it was obvious that Chan was horrified at the spike call. He knew what was going on.

The throw out of bounds was also the right decision...for third down, and even if he knew it was fourth down, Reggie couldn't have made anything more than a desperation throw. The real shame was Nix calling that damn spike on third down.

So, while Chan would be the first to say that he's ultimately responsible, the direct responsibility was on the hands of Nix. I think we'll find out this year that Chan was bound somewhat by Nix and a poor QB situation.

Yes, but you know, I don't think Chan went in on fourth down and spiked the ball like fortebuna said. I also don't think he told Reggie to throw the ball out of bounds on fourth down, which I guess is what he was trying to say. I also don't think Chan told his assistant recruiter not to get the best players he could...in fact I'm pretty sure we had a great recruiting class recently and have had excellent players recently(Calvin Johnson?). Not sure what SP is but I doubt we rank 119 out of 119 schools like he says. I don't think Duke really looks forward to their games against us, but I see where his cheap shot comes from(winning one out of five is good for Duke). That last comment really makes no sense either...clearly it's referring to Gailey keeping in Reggie for all four years, but he really needs to learn to express himself better.

We'll be on it until we beat UGA again...so hopefully until the end of November.
