I loathe Notre Dame and I like to see the ACC do well ooc, but after reading and hearing all the arrogant crap UNC fans are saying, is anybody tempted to root for Notre Dame in this game?
 
not really. i still want the ACC to get a good OOC win, and i want them to be thinking how good they are when they play us. then we can show them how ungood they are. yeah... ungood.

So no, I still hope UNC wins. I don't worry about anyone we play. We'll have every opportunity to shut them up for ourselves.

No way. First of all I simply hate Notre Dame. Secondly, despite any personal feelings towards an ACC bretheren, it benefits every team in the conference when someone wins a big game out of conference.
 
No. ND is 2nd behind in teams I pull against. Pulled for ND twice and they blew it both times. Best scenario - UNC beats them badly and we beat UNC.
 
Heck no, ACC pride. We play UNC, so the better UNC performs before we face them, the better for us.

I have nothing wrong with UNC talking up their team, they have something to proud of just like us. We both lost to the same team with the same score and as for our victories..

GT: J St., @BC, Duke, Miss St.
UNC: McNeese St., @Miami, @Rutgers, 24 UConn

I am proud of our Jackets, and from the look of their record, they should be proud of their team. Who are we to call them arrogant?
 
UNC has a real football coach.

Notre Dame? Not so much.

UNC by 14.

I'm not equating enthusiasm with arrogance or saying that all UNC fans are arrogant. But, arrogance is out there. I heard one comment somewhere from a UNC fan that there was no way that Butch Davis and his team could get beaten by our "Division IAA" coach and his "high school" offense. So, to answer your question, I am a person who heard the comment and that's all I need to be to call it arrogant.

But, my temptation to root against UNC is overcome for all the reasons mentioned on the thread.

Next thing you know the AJC will write an article saying something positive about UNC and then all hell will break loose....
 
Root for ND? Hell no.

By the way, in terms of arrogance / obnoxiousness wouldn't you rather UNC be semi-relevant or Miami-F$U-VT be dominant in the conference?

I would prefer the UNCs, NC States, Clemsons, Marylands be "arrogant" than the 3 listed above because they get that way when they're about breakeven in the conference (see NC State's parade for the team that finished 4 of 9 in the conference - sometime during Phillip Rivers tenure).

What are y'all talking about? I never even suggested that I have a problem with positive press for UNC or with their fans being proud of the team. "Arrogance." That's what I'm talking about. It's a different word altogether than "pride."
 
Nothing good comes from a UNC loss in this game. They would drop from the rankings, hurting ACC respect, and be more hungry, and more modest when we play them. If they win, the Carolina arrogance and ranking will continue and Tech will get more respect and pleasure from beating them in Crapel Hill. I will continue to hold my nose and yell "GO HEELS" this weekend.
 
I don't know about you guys but many times I find myself thinking,"this team is who I should be rooting for because it makes the ACC look better." but I find myself feeling much better when they do bad. Notre Dame, I don't care so much about. I really liked to seem them squirm last year. I hate CW but their fans were especially nice.

/Would love to face Tenuta's D in the Gator.
 
There's only one opponent that could possibly make me cheer for Notre Dame - it happened once, in 1980, and the Farting Amish let me down.

There was a good reason to cheer for the Irish in January of 1991 too as I recall.
