Not exactly football, but close enough.

Neat blog posting about academic consistency on GT Sports Blog today. I know we all knew this was true, but nice to see it proven.

University of Georgia in 1999/2000 allowed 7% of their general student population in with lower standards, while 78% of their overall student-athlete population got in without meeting university standards. The kicker - 94% of the football players admitted to the University of Georgia did NOT meet UGAg's minimum admission standards.

Georgia Tech allowed no exceptions (0% statistically) for the student population, 9% of the student-athlete population and also 9% for football players (data from 2004/2005).

Yep, looks like Tech and Auburn are the real academic power schools. Auburn and Tech. Tech and Auburn. Two peas in a pod. Well, except that Auburn hasn't had any football scholarship limitations placed on them by the NCAA recently.

I read a while ago that 55% of UF's incoming class for 04-05 were special admits, so I don't know why it lists them as 18%.

A little help with analysis, since it's not your strong suit:

Tech and UGA's minimum academic standards are set by the same board of regents.

Auburn's aren't.

Wha????? Any possibility that you have a clue?

Has anyone seen the most recent "Mighty SEC" commercial?

They actually brag about graduating "nearly 50% of our student athletes".

That is the WORST rate in the entire f-ing country....and they're bragging about this, why?!!!

Maybe they're required to by law.
