The ACC played a lot of close bowl game but didn't get it done:

Al Groh is an idiot to wait for the refs to review the obvious fumble. Just throw out the flag/use a timeout. Moron.

Beamer did the whole Bobby Bowden and Chan Gailey thing. Bowden, because he just felt compelled to throw out his prepared for arsenal of tricks. They were in control of the game, JUST RUN THE BALL and get back for the punt. Gailey, because he didn't just run the ball. Pat Hill figured it out. When an OL is dominating the defense, keep running the ball. Moron.

By the way, Glennon moves the team right down the field at the beginning and is rhythm. Beamer pulls him for the running qb who gets teed up. Stupid.

Bowden. The guy has zero control of his program and is weighed down by a bunch of old coaches.

Friedgen. Offensive genius you say? Baloney.

I'm missing somebody.

I think Johnson has a great opportunity to bring in something creative in the ACC and blow through the conference. I hope recruiting backs him up in the short term.

A couple other bright spots:

Jim Grobe: Won 20 games the last two years at Wake Forest University. Enough said.

Tom O'Brien: Did wonders at BC, and showede signs of turning around State this year. When he gets rid of the riff-raff that Chuckles the Clown left behind, they should be a solid time.

Butch Davis at Carolina. Given time, he will bring the Goats back to a Mack Brown level. Our game at Kenan will be very difficult in '08.

The only top coaches I see in the ACC now are:

1. Paul Johnson*

2. Butch Davis*

3. Jim Grobe

4. David Cutcliffe*

5. Jeff Jagodinsky (could be product of Matt Ryan)

6. Frank Beamer (he's proven himself to me)

BAD COACHES:

1. Bobby Bowden (his best days are behind him even tho' he's also "proven himself")

2. Al Groh (the next ACC coach to be fired...I guarantee it)

3. Tom O'Brien (this guy has never done anything exceptional imo)

4. Randy Shannon (they are loaded with talent...how do you make Miami worse than mediocre...really?)

THE ONLY MEDIOCRE COACHES

1. Tommy Bowden. Tommy has been o-so-close the past few seasons. However, I feel he may be closer to a bad coach considering all the studs that play on that team.

2. Ralph Friedgen. Let's face it, its hard to get awesome recruits to come play for (yawn) Maryland. He's doing OK.

*notes recent significant UPGRADES.

The next ACC coach to be fired will be either TBowden or Friedgen and my money is on Friedgen. Al Groh has a new staff and they will give him some time.

I wouldn't label T. O'brien a bad coach just yet. Likewise I'm not sold on Jagodinsky, time will tell on both of these guys.

The great news is that the teams in the ACC are making significant coaching changes and attempting to improve ACC football. Even Duke has come up with some money to buy a real coach. You have to hope the ACC will be a much better conference in three years.

All you need to know about the Fridge is that he was interested in the Tech job.

Not a slam against the Tech job - he was obviously using it as bait to better his deal so as to enlarge his parachute for when he gets fired from MD.

Fridge is toast in 2008.

If MD hadn't had so many injuries this year they would have won 9 at least. Fridge may be toast in 2008 but he's just as likely to have a big year.

so you've got Paul Johnson 5 spots ahead of Frank Beamer. don't get me wrong, pj is good and all, but.....

sounds a bit delusional to just throw our coach to the top of the list wouldn't u think?

I wouldn't be so quick to judge Shannon yet. His new rules have brought some self-respect back to the team. He is also from one of the worst neighborhoods in Miami- where lots of the big talent comes from (can't think of the neighborhood's name).

Don't forget- they did have a stellar performance on offense this year, largely due to the offensive genius of Nix... God bless 'em for relieving us of that idiot.

I think Shannon is going to make vast improvements in the team over the next year or two, then once they have proven themselves, they can hire a real OC and be a power again in the ACC.
