Which deal was worse from a purely business and intelligence standpoint? The eleventy-seven year iron clad GOR for paltry cash? Or the Paul Hewitt evergreen contract?

My vote is for the GOR.

I think Tech either needs to hire someone from its buisiness school to review its sports business deals, or shut that school down altogether.

Neither were as bad as the G****C****** contract.
we still couldn't fire the guy after 3/3/3, 100-0 and six straight losses

Honestly if we eventually end up in the Big 12 it won’t be the worst
The B12 has positioned itself to be the 3rd conference after the B1G & SEC finish expanding. The centralized location for a majority of their programs makes it easy to pickup the rest of the P12 (Arizona, ASU, Utah, Colorado, etc) & ACC (GT, VT, BC, UofL, Pitt, Wake, Duke, etc). The 24+ team B12 stands to be a much better conference and an overall national conference vs what the ACC currently is.

That is just crap. Middle of fly over nowhere is not appealing to anyone, especially since all of the decent programs have jumped ship to the SEC (Arkansas, Missouri, aTm, Texas, Oklahoma) and BIG10 (Nebraska).

Decent programs have jumped ship? All of the below B12 are better than GT:
Oklahoma State
Baylor
Iowa State
TCU
Kansas State
Texas Tech
Cincy
BYU
Houston
UCF

From a geographic standpoint, the B12 makes much more sense to survive over the crappy ACC since it can easily have East & West coast teams with a large set of teams in the middle.

You look at that list and honestly want to play those teams every year? I don’t give a öööö about flying to see any of those teams except maybe BYU and OK State.

You left out WVU and they’re probably the most interesting big 12 opponent.

are we still paying Hewitt?

also as much as I would love to see us in the Big Ten...I am not sure a majority feels the same way. We discussed this ~10 years ago and it appeared that at that time people wanted the regional ACC.

Bunch of former community colleges, and religious cults. I really do not want to be associated with that group.

There is a reason nobody in the PAC 10 wants to group up with the Big 12. PAC 10 teams are going to ride out the PAC 10 until all hope is lost. I wish ACC could get ND and some PAC 10 teams to stay alive.

His buyout ended in 2019, the year after Brian Gregory's did. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

For some reason Mormons and Jehovah Witness’ are the only religions that can be discriminated against and nobody gets upset. Maybe it’s because they are the only ones that will knock on your door.

Big 12 is a round up of mediocre to bad teams, no thanks. That looks like a conference were left overs go to die.
If the B12 is mediocre to bad teams, what is the ACC not named Clemson? Pitt & Wake went 11-3 last year. While the so called football schools not named Clemson went 7-5 (Miami), 6-7 (VT), 5-7 (FSU). NCSU is the next closest thing to a football school based on fan support / size of the stadium, and they had a solid 9-3 season, and should probably go 9-3 again this year.

Baylor just won the Big 12, Oklahoma State was on the verge of the CFP last year until that classic game in the B12 championship against Baylor. Iowa State has been solid under Matt Campbell, etc. Now they are adding in 4 damn good football programs in Cincy, Houston, UCF and BYU. The only real loss is OU. Texas has been a mediocre program (outside of 2018) for quite some time.

But yeah…..Playing Duke, Pitt, Miami, Cuse, Wake and BC in front of 30,000 on ESPN8 /ACCRN / ACC digital only is so much better.

There is a reason the ACC is the 5th rated P5 conference.

On a related note, I live within view of the Jehovah's Witness church. They would show up every so often to talk to me/whatever, which I never would.

Once, I was doing routine maintenance on my Suburban and told them that if they would help me with that task, I would talk to them and then be plenty happy to sit on the deck with them and discuss whatever they desired....they declined.
