After a historic night in his starting debut, Georgia Tech quarterback TaQuon Marshall was an easy selection for ACC offensive back of the week, announced Tuesday.

Against Tennessee Monday night in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff game, Marshall earned his first ACC player of the week honors for rushing for 249 yards, which set ACC and school records for rushing yards by a quarterback. His totals for rushing attempts (44) and rushing touchdowns (five) also set modern-era records for Tech and for Tennessee opponents. The Yellow Jackets lost 42-41 in double overtime.

Marshall also completed five of 10 passes for 120 yards. His 369 yards of total offense rank 11th in school history.

Marshall was the lone Tech player to earn honors in the opening week of the season.

More than his speed and arm, I'm excited by his confidence. TQ (what are we calling him anyway) was shifty and made some beautiful fake-outs before cutting inside, and other times waiting until the last 1/100th of a second to make the pitch. You don't often see that kind of moxy from a new starter in our complicated O. He has the gift, and I hope he's healthy for the next 2 years.

I was impressed with him standing in there and making the pitch at the last possible millisecond a few times. Whatever "it" is, he has "it." Him and Benson look every bit of Thomas/Mills.

He had an incredible game in a prime time environment. Very happy for him. Wish we had done enough as a team to win, but the loss should not diminish in anyway his individual effort. Really has me jacked for the rest of the season!!

Great effort by TQM... but it's kinda lame that they count OT stats when they figure this stuff up.

Funny that JT5 and Marshall are about the same size, but Marshall looks bigger than JT5 on the field. I kept thinking he was 6-1 or so when he was playing
