In this very informative article from the Greeensboro News-Record it is pointed out how pleased ESPN is that the ACC is now the network's top rated League. ESPN will be televising 6 of the 8 conference Bowl gms. The ESPN/ACC relationship continues to get better each & every yr.
Mostly the column talks about how much the ACC's Bowl revenue will go up this coming season. The Chick-Fil-A Bowl takes a major step up to $2.8 million per team. The Chick will get 2nd pick, or 1st pick after the BCS pick(s). Gator gets 3rd choice because it hosts the ACC Championship game. The Champs Sports Bowl takes a huge hike to $2.1 mil/tm, but only moves to 4th pick. Heckuva jump in $$$ tho.

There is something that the league (not ESPN) has done to make sure the Bowl games more closely mirror the league standings. I don't remember exactly how it works and cannot find the link on short notice but the league did address it - how well we will see in the coming year.

In a nutshell, the bowls can't pass over a team with a better conference record for a team with 2 more losses. So last year, Tech and BC with 5-3 league marks would have had to be picked before either UVA or NCState with 3-5 records. One game less is okay though.
