ACC Network could bring ninth league game for football

I can't wait to play Wake and BC more frequently. That is so much better than having schedule flexibility.

Alcorn and Mercer aren't the games that would drop off.

We'll eat that shit sandwich and lose any potentially interesting OOC games.

Yep, we'll lose the Vandy or the Mississippi State we get each season.

People bitch, but we actually have one of the hardest non-conference schedules in the nation year in and year out. There's a lot of room for it to get easier.

I wonder if this would change cross division rivalry? Would hate to see the yearly Clemson game get scrapped.

It isn't about difficulty. I like the BYU, Tulane, UCF, etc games on the schedule. I like that flexibility to put a Miss State, Tenn, Vandy on the schedule. Going to 9 games kills much of this flexibility when we'll have a FCS and UGA on the sked each year. That leaves 1 slot for another game.

I don't disagree, but difficult and interesting are basically one and the same when it comes to the OOC schedule. All the interesting teams you mentioned are what give us such a difficult schedule, combined with the fact that we play U[sic]GA every year.

If we go to a 9 game conference schedule we'll absolutely schedule U[sic]ga, FCS, and an FBS cupcake every year. It would suck.

If there is any chance ND is going to join in FB, then the 9-game schedule is not going to happen.

I vote 10 game ACC Schedule / One division of 14 or 15 (with ND) teams / 1st place plays 2nd place for the ACC Championship. That would be the best and most fair situation. Each team has their one rivalry game - the remaining 9 games are selected from the remaining pool of 13 (or 14) teams are rotational - but balanced based on the previous year's final record. Of course, that won't happen since big-time college football is ANYTHING but fair. Plus, F*CK Notre Dame - they are either in or out.

What if there is a 3 way tie for first where either no one played each other or they all beat each other? What would the "fair" tie breaker be?

Just use what the College Football Playoff Committee uses, the Eye Test.

The plus side to 9 games is playing FSU more than once every 6-7 years.

Agree with what youre saying, but crazy to think that we've played them 5 out of the 8 seasons under CPJ with the rotational system. 3-2 too. Combined margin of victory is only 22 points in those 5. Sucks that the two losses were in the big one though.

My understanding is that the highly sophisticated Eye Test can only be administer by a diverse committee composed of the following:

1. Eleven old white guys with conflicts of interest. One of which must quit mid season due to being old.
2. One failed black coach.
3. One black woman who is fan of college football and therefore knows more than everyone else.
