ACC parting ties with boise bowl

I like both choices. I could leave Atlanta, watch the game, and be back home within the day for both bowls.

I could do the same with a trip to the Orange Bowl, although I think I would want to spend more time there.

I believe that the conference should pick one or the other, but definitely not both potential bowl tie-ins. I'm not to fond of the idea of banking on nine bowl eligible teams year in and year out. It just doesn't seem feasible.

Now, as to which bowl I would rather see us in, that is a tough one. At face value, the GMAC bowl is already established, however, the Congressional Bowl would cater more towards ACC schools location wise, with unc, dook, maryland, bc, nc sta e, wake, virginia, and vpisu being in reasonable travel distance...

It's better tp have the tie ins and not use them than to have a bowl eligible team get left out.

I'm from there and in some ways still consider it to be my hometown. But despite my ties to the place, I'm rather pleased by this move. There was never really anything to gain by playing there.

On one hand, I'll miss the opportunities to drive over for a GT game, so I'm glad I went this last time. But on the other hand, under the leadership of Coach Johnson, I'm hoping we don't have so bad of a season that we bowl that low anyway.

Here's a bit from one of the article responses. I think it hit's the nail on the head:
The ACC teams are coming off disappointing seasons, that's why they're in Boise, while the WAC team had a good year and is hungry to knock off a BCS team. The ACC team is in a no win situation in this game, and that's the reason why they want out of this game.
That and that it's so far effing removed from the bulk of our fanbase, while the the locals are mostly going to root for the WAC team.

As for the GMAC, it's not too far from ATL, Clemson, or the FL schools. Mobile doesn't have much to offer, but Gulf Shores/Orange Beach (where I live) is very nice. Lots of golf, good seafood, affordable. They're renovating the stadium in Mobile, so while it has all the amenities of a giant high school stadium now, give it a couple of years, and it'll be nice. So, depending on who the tie-in is with, that could be a nice fit.
FWIW: To state the obvious, on a somewhat related point, the whole bowl system is retarded anyway. When it becomes commonplace for a coach to make it to a bowl game, or even a string of bowl games, and get fired before the bowl, tells you how meaningless and how much of a non-accomplishment these things are.
