Anyone think the ACC could run the table this weekend?

Vandy at Wake
Florida at FSU
GT at UGA
South Carolina at Clemson

Man I would love to see mighty UF lose to FSU!

I wonder if it would even be reported by the media. They seem to hide any sec shortcomings and acc sucesses.

it's all part of the vast SEC is the toughest conference ever in the history of the world conspiracy.
The whole legitimacy of the BCS this year has been built on the idea that the SEC and the Big 12 South are the toughest conference/division in football, and could compete with the NFC West.
If UF and Bama lose, and if Mizzou somehow win the Big 12, the whole thing blows up, which would be fun to watch.

3-1 is the best we could hope for. FSU wont win.

Probably right but remember that Miami was only down 9-3 at Florida going to the 4th.

I think that Florida is much better now but they may also be spending a little too much time thinking about Alabama.

Also, this seems to be the week that crazy things usually happen to blow up the BCS.

I think if FSU beats UF, and the rest of the ACC does well, we beat the Great Satan, Clem wins, then maybe they'll say something about it. More then likely though, they'll chalk it up to rivalry games where "anything can happen". It will take a prolonged string of victories by ACC teams over SEC teams, as well as high profile bowl wins, to reverse this current SEC hardon the media has.

If he ACC runs the table the media will have to cover it. The big spotlight games are UGA-GT and UF-FSU. If we can win those two alone, people are going to have to take notice. Especially if FSU beats the fair-haired child of ESPN (and deservedly so), University of Florida.

I actually think the UGA loss to us won't be viewed as an upset or as a statement on conference strength, but simply as the conclusion to UGA's 2008 meltdown.

FSU beating UF will be a huge upset, and deservedly so.

It will take doing well this weekend AND a mediocre SEC performance and a dominating performance by the ACC in the bowl season, along with the ACC Champion finally winning a BCS game. I think that might start to put a dent in the SEC's armor and raise the ACC's profile a litle bit...it would be tough to ignore it.

You'll hear some positive talk about the ACC if FSU beats UF and we beat UGA. That would be two of the top three SEC teams losing to ACC teams in the same weekend and impossible to ignore. Just winning one of those two can be brushed off as an abberation.

Think Mizzou winning is the key to the whole applecart getting upset. So all you playoffs fans, learn the Mizzo-RAH! chant for the Big 12 championship game.

I'm never wrong.

There's a first time for everything. And I'm glad we could all be here to witness it.

With 4 games, the "best we could hope for" is 4-0. Even if it's not likely, we can still hope F$U beats UF. I know I will be.

Now if you had used the word "likely" or "realistically" in your response, your streak would still be alive.

:smirk:

i looked into the already played ACC v SEC games last week during an email conversation between me and a Dawg "friend" of mine.

right now, its 3-3, with UF and ALA being 2 of the 3 wins for the SEC (the other being SC over NC State); here were my comments:

NC State lost to South Carolina 34-0
Alabama beat Clemson 34-10
Miami lost to Florida 3-26 (17 of those points in the 4th Q)
wake forrest beat mississippi 30-28
GT beat MSU 38-7
Duke beat Vandy 10-7 (Uga only beat Vandy by 10 points)

yet to play:
South Carolina at Clemson
Florida at FSU
GT at UGA
Vandy at Wake

so, with 4 games left to play, the ACC head to head with the SEC is 3-3. Also, 2 of those 3 wins by the SEC were by the top teams in the SEC, Alabama and Florida. on the other hand, a mid-level team from the ACC (Wake) beat a mid-level SEC team (Ole Miss)
while one of our upper-to-mid-level teams (GT) blew out one of the SECs bottom teams (MSU)
and then our worst team (duke) beat a mid-level SEC team (Vandy)
the only non-"super team" win the SEC has is SoCar beating NCState

My point is that even though it is 3-3, ACC looks stronger via this analysis. these last 4 interconference games will be the deciders, though

I like to look at it this way with current standings within the conference divisions.

SEC Wins
ACCA #6 lost 34-0 toe SECE #3 Tied
ACCA #4 T lost 34-10 to SECW #1
ACCC #2 tied lost 26-3 to SECE #1 as you pointed out 9-3 going to the 4th. Better than anyone in the SEC other than Ole Miss played Florida

ACCA #4 T wins 30-28 over SECW #2
ACCC #1 wins 38-7 over SECW #4T
ACCC #6 wins 10-7 over SECE # 3T

2 of the ACC's 3 wins are against teams ranked higher in their division of the SEC than they are in the ACC. 2 of the SEC wins are by their conferences and the nations best 2 teams. The SEC is 2 great teams a couple of good teams and the others are not good. I think the ACC has no great teams but 8-10 good teams. All opinion with some evidence to support. FYI ACC is #1 conference in sagarin this week.
