After UGA win, CPJ allowed team to get 'fat and happy' and lost their edge...

After D. Thomas dropped those two passes in the endzone early that was a very bad sign.

CPJ has done a lot of good things, but this type of letdown against LSU was a definite downer.

Gambling in our own territory on a fake punt was crazy. And when it backfired, the game was over . I had never felt that way about a Georgia Tech game this year until that moment.

All those awards and accolades got to the team's head and Tech lost their focus

I'm not buying this. One was an outstanding defensive play by the LSU guy to knock the ball out of DT's hands. The other was one that was not well thrown. DT didn't "drop" any passes that I saw.

Disagree. It's a case of "good play-bad play." It was certainly a great play by the defender to knock it away, but Thomas had it IN HIS HANDS before the contact came...he HAS to hold on to that ball. Not that that play could have swayed the game...too many things went wrong.

Game was over before the fake punt failed to convert.

It would have been a 7-7 game. LSU is a good team despite their 7-5 record, but Ga. Tech needed to maintain an offensive rhythm and put points on the board.

UGA game looked bad for awhile, but Tech hung in there and scored some points prior to halftime to keep it close. Unfortunately, Tech just gave the game away to LSU and being down by four touchdowns at halftime was very disheartening.

Two comments:

1. If, in fact, we did get fat and happy after beating UGa, then I think the team is more responsible for it than the coach.

2. No one named Hewitt has any room to talk.

CPJ "allowed" our SAs to have dead week to prepare for finals, and time off to take finals. I can't argue with that. Good for him, and our academic results justify that decision.

I'm very disappointed in last night's game, and it still stings after a night's sleep. I'll remember that one for a while. Nevertheless, I'm proud to be a Yellow Jacket and CPJ is still the man.

I couldn't disagree more with the whole 'reward' thing. We were unprepared last night and it really showed.

Not scoring on that first drive was huge. On the pass play, the DB made a nice play. But, the WR has to start bringing the ball in as soon as it is in his hands. And, we slowed down as if underthrown then had to go up high to get it. Bottom line, it is a big play that just missed. If we had hit for the TD, game might have been different.

I thought four plays and one repeated problem led to our debacle. The opening kick, the dropped pass, the
offside on MJ followed by a late hit, and the fumbled punt. (The fake punt was a poorly conceived, stupid act of desperation, but these other plays set the tone and led to a 21-3 lead).

The recurring problem was our rush defense in the first half in the red zone. It was as if they knew exactly what we would do, blocked accordingly, and scored easily. By the second half we had made adjustments and goal line defense was stout.

We can blame CPJ and players and talk about over confidence. But I credit LSU assistants and fault ours. Their scouting and subsequent game plan/schemes were awesome. We looked very ill-prepared.

According to an insider on the Hive, the "reward" statement was that they didn't use the time as boot camp for players who never got much time during the season. He said the prep for the starters was pretty much the same as for a normal game. Don't know anything first hand of course, but I'm not sure the news we get from the AJC tells the whole story.
