AJC congratulates UGA on their MNC

Now *that* is a "Mythical" National Championship!

I expect to see it added to their wikipedia entry any minute now - they'll probably even get a banner up at Sanford & Son stadium.

Who cares? It's a stupid little poll that lets them pander to their main customers a little bit.

Wonder if they went ahead and gave us the basketball NC in 04.

We were fine until Mark Bradley picked us to win it all the day of the finals.

I think in the wake of this great and monumental win for UGA, that the AJC should just go ahead and run next year's BCS as well, as we all know that the Dawgs will go back to back.

What a joke...

Wow...

<sarcasm>Who would've thought that 88% of the people who voted in the ATLANTA Journal Constitution Poll picked UGA? I was almost certain that Mizzou was going to pull it out, based on the strong contingent they have in the state of Georgia. Oh well, another AJC poll is in the books. UGA has won the national championship, and probably will for the rest of eternity. Thanks, AJC, for the in-depth research! </sarcasm>

I really liked how they had UGA beating USC when Mel Kiper commented on ESPN Friday morning that the only player on UGA's team that could start for USC was K Brandon Coutu.

Actually, if you go to many major papers (for instance, KC Star -- my brother lives in KC), they are running similar types of fantasy playoffs. KC has computer simulation with OSU beating Oklahoma.

Most places used some type of computer simulation though. The AJC used fan votes.

I agree. Doing this by fan voting was the dumbest possible method. Coin flips would have been more meaningful.

Since we are considering fans from GA, plain coin flips wouldn't do. You need 5 consecutive coin tosses and only if they are all tails, UGA loses a game.

You know what, that must be how AJC decides if they want to write an article critical of UGA!
