The Jackets will play the Cardinals "sometime in the decade of 2010-19." So if you're a Louisville alum in the metro area, and you want to see your team play on the Flats, go ahead and keep your Saturdays free next decade.

Of more immediate concern, apparently we're still having trouble finding another game next year.

it said we could get stuck with a D1AA opponent because everyone wants home and home instead of a one night stand.
It also notes in the article that Clemson and FSU both play two D1AA opponents next year.

I'd rather just accept a home-and-home with a D1 opponent.

Yea, why is there a hold up on getting a home and home sewed up with a decent program? Although, with the new schemes coming in, it may be better for the program to play a lesser school.

bc we don't have another schedule opening until 2012 or something like that, according to AgayC

I wouldn't mind making a road trip to a nearby school. Shoot, let's see if UAB wants us on their home schedule.

By the time we play louisville they will be no better than pitt, syracuse, or any of the other mediocre to bad big east teams.

Or maybe UCF if we're still on good terms with O'Leary.

i would like that game. we could make a deal where for the return game at UCF, they could donate some of the gate for 'interest' on GOLeavy's debt...

btw i love GO'L, dont come after me, its a dang joke

I'd bet that UAB and UCF are booked up. Everybody wants to play weak schools with good records in crap conferences because it bumps their Sagarin rating.

The hold up appears to me to be that we want someone to come play us, and don't want to travel there. I say screw it, give em a home and home. We gave BYU a home and home, gave UConn one too when UConn was a basement team without a stadium.

The problem with a home and home is that after this opening we don't have another until 2012 or something like that. I say we just go and lock horns with someone and say to hell with it.

Maybe we could get ND to play us again...

Because we typically sign all two year deals..even if both games come to GT. Army hosed us by serving 1/2 the contract...so we have a straggling opening. We would have been fine if they canceled both games.

Although not as exciting for fans....I can live with another D1AA opponent as long as it is before the Miss. St. game Sept. 20. This would give us two games (along with Jax St) to work on this completely new offense which is going to require precision timing, decision-making, and will likely lead to a lot of turnovers early in the year.

As far as the most overrated statistic these days...SOS (its importance is lessened each year) we are ok because we have 2 ranked OOC oppoenents in Miss. St. and UGA (both from the almighty SEC). In conference we have Clemson, FSU, and Boston College from the other divisioni on top off our typically difficult division with VT, UVA, Miami, etc.

Heck....it is more difficult than LSU's schedule this season...and they made the natl champ game despite losing to two unranked opponents!! Clemson will be ranked high pre-season next year and will have two D1AA opponents. FSU was set to be ranked pre-season next year with their weakened schedule...but the fallout from academics issues has yet to be seen.

While it may not be exciting for us fans...it may be the only option....and it may be the best thing for this team...one in heavy transition.

I definitely want a D1AA opponent. Just get someone that will bring fans.

Our 2008 schedule is plenty tough already. Let's get an easy few wins and positive momentum heading into a rough ACC schedule.

I am saying that we should travel to those schools, without a return trip. We were going to go to Army anyway. If we can get a weak D-1A school to host us, it is pretty much a wash. I would try to pull in UAB or Tulane, because we recruit those states. Being willing to travel might get us onto someone's schedule.

Maybe Tennessee or someone big would write us a nice paycheck to travel there without a return game. But I would prefer a weak team because we are probably going to be really erratic on offense the first few games.

The more I think about it, the more likely we'll probably end up with a one-time FCS team. The reason is that Tech will bring in more money from an additional home game than taking a one-time roadie against a CUSA team. Taking into account the financial straits of the GTAA, DRad is probably looking for as many money making opportunities as possible.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm all for another home game and a chance to tailgate at home.

Having a win against a 2nd D1AA opponent will not officially count, unless you are just talking about for morale and practice sakes
