"Two Tech recruits suffer injuries
requiring knee surgery may delay WR Melton's enrollment until '08

Two of the 18 high school football players committed to Georgia Tech, Union Grove linebacker Kyle Jackson and Houston wide receiver Tyler Melton, have suffered knee injuries, but only one might change his plans.
Melton, who had surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, was to enroll in January before being injured, but now, "I'm most likely to wait until January of 2008," he said.

If he waits that long to enroll, it might open up a scholarship offer for a different player by signing day in February as he would count against the 2008 recruiting class.
Jackson will have surgery Thursday to repair torn cartilage in his right knee, and still plans to enroll at Tech next summer. He said even with a predicted recovery time of two to six months, he should be ready for summer practice.
"I was using crutches for two or three weeks, and then physical therapy for two or three to get it stronger before surgery," he said. "I'm walking now."
Melton is trying to determine if he can take classes at Houston Cy-Fair Community College that would transfer to Tech. Depending on the findings, Tech coaches might accept two or three more verbal commitments rather than one or two.
"Injuries happen, but [Tech coaches] were saying they were with me all the way," he said. "They were encouraging me to take my time."
Jackson is the No. 31-ranked middle linebacker in the nation according to Scout.com, No. 38 according to Rivals.com. Melton is not ranked among the top 100 at his position by either recruiting service."

Wonder if that means that things are going well with:
Peters, Edwards, & Burnett.....we might be able to make the "best" out of a bad situation due to the injuries & scholarship limitations.....Any thoughts????
