AJC writer refers to Virginia Tech as "Tech" in article

Obviously you are young and don't remember the slew of Tech beat writers who sucked so bad you were lucky to get any write ups at all. Winkeljohn is great compared to his predecessors. Be carfeful what you wish for.

To be fair to Winkle, his usage of Tech in the article is appropriate given the context. The article itself is nothing special or even vaguely insightful, other then to point out that lots of people said VT would be good, despite all the youngins on the team. And those people didn't think that choice through. Which I think most people around already knew.

It is never appropriate for an Atlanta newspaper to refer to a school other than GT as "Tech." This isn't even up for debate.

If the article was just on VT, I'll accept it. But GT was in the title and in the article, so any Tech has to be us in AJC.

When will we realize that AJC writers (most of whom are UGA alum) do this stuff to annoy (the real) Tech fans. If we had that kind of public forum, we would do the same thing.

You guys need to get a grip. First, those writers don't understand that we hold the word "Tech" to be very predominant to us. For them, its like saying "State". When NCST place FSU, you don't here them bickering over the word "State" and how it is used. For themsaying "Tech" is just the short way of refering to the team that isn't the one with University in its name.

Now if GT was playing VT and they refered to VT as Tech in their article, I may be annoyed.

If you think the writers are doing this stuff purposely to annoy you, then you need to step away from the computer and go get some fresh air.
