20-17 on the last play of the game!!!!!!! I don't see how Amato keeps his job after this one. Watched the game on ESPNU and NCST had trouble with the west coast offense pretty much all day. :laugher:

Tell SLJ to give me credit. People said Groh was the worst coach. I give it to Choke Amato. Its almost funny reading the NCST board.

I agree...Amato stinks and is a horrible representative of any school.

Barrel: I didn't say Amato was a worse coach than Groh. I said Groh is the most overrated. But if it makes you feel better I'll give you the point, game, and match.;)

I get your point. Groh is over-loved. No one like Amato.

Again, very embarrassing for the conference.

It may be a good idea for everyone to hold their tongue for a while regarding the ACC as the so called best conference.

Its clear that its going to be a very down year for the ACC, at least for the mid-lower ranked teams.

Hopefully this will give us a chance to make a move and become among the elite in the conference (VT/UM/FSU right now) if we take of business agianst the UVA/Clemson/UNC/NCSU.

I have to say, the SEC looks pretty weak this year too in a lot of the same ways, but some of their mid teir teams will probably pull it up later in the year, but the way things are going this year its going to be a Big12/Big11 dominated year.

I don't give a rat's rear about the other teams in our conference....I just want to win it and go to the BCS!!!

If the others blow it....stinks for them...good for us!!!

I don't disagree with you hdt. I have never worn a conference hat, but do understand strength of schedule.

I don't understand, however, why ACC teams can't score points. The CU/BC game excluded.

Don't forget - the CU/BC game went to OT - they only scored 17 each in regulation, didn't they?

I don't understand it, either.

exactly....17 all in regulation.

it is more and more difficult for offenses to score in real conferences because of defensive speed.

I remember the article last year where Urban Meyer could not believe he punted from his opponents 27 yd. line last year to preserve field position in a tight game!!!!

Me neither.....I'm old school SEC. To hell with the ACC and all these basketball schools......

then you are wearing a conference hat. SEC?

Hivered: I have long wished to see Tech back in the SEC. We should have never left. It likely will never happen though. My favorite conference? Yes it is the SEC. The pagentry, the tradition, the fans.....etc. etc.

I do like to see conference teams perform well if nothing more for the sake of a conference win meaning more to the pollsters, and more importantly, for the sake whatever BCS formula-of-the-day is in place.

If NC State has a couple of more wins and GT defeats them then the win means a little more to the big BCS 'computer system'.

That being said, from a fan perspective only and forgetting about the importance of the BCS ranking system, I could really care less if the likes of Clemson and Miami ever win a game because I loathe both programs.

I do not think I could take being around all of the deep southern ineptitude of SEC schools.

Aside from Vandy, and maybe Florida, the rest are just incredibly weak academically.

I enjoy the more respected collegiate feel of UVA, NC, BC, etc. We have enough thug talent mixed in with Miami, FSU, and Clemson to keep the 'football only/who cares about academics' crowd happy.

The ACC just feels a little more like "college" football than the SEC. The SEC feels like an entirely different league where a sizable portion of their fan base could care less about the academic affairs of their players beyong keeping them eligible.

just my opinion.

Great news for us, but it does not speak well for the conference when our teams are getting knocked off by MAC teams. Although I am happy as hell that NCst lost because they have ruined our season in the past (particularly in 2000).
