Do you think they win only one game this year? Their best chance is probably Duke this week.

September 27 at Duke
October 4 Maryland
October 11 East Carolina
October 18 North Carolina
October 25 at Georgia Tech
November 1 Miami
November 8 at Wake Forest
November 22 Clemson
November 29 at Virginia Tech

They might beat UNC now that they lost their QB too.

Other than that, yeah, they're boned.

Either Duke or Maryland. While Maryland looks like they have turned things around, some games they just don't show up for.

My gut tells me though, that they are looking at losing close to Duke. Then Md will lay 40 something on them.

Jim Grobe to UVA would be a lateral move at this point. Grobe needs to hold out for a powerhouse, like Tennessee.

Will any amount of money move Grobe from WF? I was under the impression Alabama wanted him badly before Saban, but he wouldn't even return their calls.

Then again, that could just be his reaction to Bama. Very understandable.

Wake to UVa would be a step down. Part of the reason Grobe was successful at Wake is because they were patient with him redshirting everyone. I don't think UVa would sit out 2 seasons to get their program on track.

I'd like to see Grobe go to TN. I'd like to see what he could do with that level of talent (and money).

I would rather live in Knoxville than Tuscaloosa. Also, there is no way going to UVA is a lateral move. UVA has more money, tradition, prestige, etc.

If Grobe wins the ACC he will have a lot of suitors.

I don't think anyone really grasps how bad UVA is yet - UNC losing their starting QB is not enough to bring them down to UVA's level. UVA has lost numerous players not including the normal attrition due to graduation (similar to our Flunkgate) - including both QBs with any significant playing experience.

he is not going to go to UVa to get another suitor. he has more control and less pressure at Wake, and he gets to do what he wants

if he goes it will be to someone that has shown not only top football talent, but also the willingness to give a coach some time and some control, i doubt he would move to UVa...

Grobe was only "unofficially" contacted for the Bama job, and in any case, who wants to coach for Bama? They're just going to fire you after you win 9 games.

No, Tennessee is a great place for Grobe to land, because it's a high profile, high paying position that doesn't fire people on a whim.

He initially took the job at Arkansas last year and then backed out. Probably because those fans are nut jobs. Tenn fans have yet to take out an add in the Knoxville paper advertising for money for a buyout of Fulmer's contract and petitioning the coaches office to get certain players more playing time. I could definately see the move to Tenn. They have actually been rather patient with Fulmer. He has lost 4 in a row to UF, underachieved each of the past couple of years and has proven he can't do anything without Cut as the OC.

Grobe would make tons of money, be beloved by a very devout fan base. Have good control without a lot of people in his buisness. It is a much better job than Ark, and that is probably what will throw him over the edge to take it if its offered.

Also if Grobe is offered at UVA thats a done deal that he stays at Wake. UVA sucks. They have some history, (granted more than Wake) but their fanbase is average, they pay average, and they are just an average program in every sense of the word. Grobe is already set in at Wake and made them above average and put them in a situation to win another ACC championship. Why start over when you already got something working well for you?

UVA has a history ... of losing.

They've only ever had 1 good coach, George Welsch, and they ran him out of town for being too Chanesque. They've only been ranked #1 once, and we beat them.

Grobe is a Virginia grad and former player.

But Groh's not going anywhere.

I also think that Grobe would set his sights higher than a lateral move. A SEC team. UT makes sense.

Fulmer's bacon is on the hot eye of the stove. Remember Johnny Majors. There is a limit to loyalty at UT.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was Fulmer's last season in Knoxville without radical improvements. A shame really. The SEC will be hard on a rebuilding UT.

Wake would be lost w/o Grobe.

I'd be surprised to see Grobe leave Wake. I know, I know, everything comes to an end. But he really likes it there, there is absolutely no pressure from the fans, everyone loves him and he's paid pretty well to be living in Winston-Salem, NC. Very little media attention to deal with, no crazy orange painted fools drunk in a river. I mean, you always want more money, but I think he's got it figured pretty well there.
