Okay, maybe I am too optimistic sometimes but I am not ready to throw in the towel just yet. However, I think that the entire season now rest on the Clemson game. We have to win this next game. In my opinion, Miami and Virginia Tech each have two league loses in them and I don’t think that Virginia, UNC, or Duke will be a factor in the end. Unfortunately, if this scenario plays out, we will need to run the table in our remaining ACC games. But, if we lose to Clemson next week, I say that we need to play for next year. Championships were the goal of this season. If we can’t win championships, then we need to salvage the season some way. We have already burned several red shirts, so let the freshman play. Taylor is obviously not the answer. He should start if we still have a chance at a championship, but if we lose this weekend, then Nesbitt needs to have an opportunity to start in preparation for next season. I would also want Dwyer taking the majority of the handoffs. I am not so sure that he isn’t the best back that we have anyway.

Your thoughts?

looking at both of their schedules, 2 conference losses is very possible for both VT and Miami, assuming we beat both.

All we can do is take it one game at a time and see how its plays out. We are not that far off from playing good football. We just keep killing ourselves on offense. This season comes down to Clemson, point blank.

The entire season now rests on every single league game. We really are in can't lose one now territory...losing today meant we don't control our own destiny, losing another conference game puts us out of it completely.

I don't agree about giving Dwyer the majority of the carries if Choice is completely healthy. Split time, but Choice is our main back.

Mustang, I love ya man and you've got a cool car. Your observations and recruiting info have made for good reads. Your optimism is refreshing. I agree with your thoughts about Nesbitt and Dwyer.

The bottom line is this: We beat a dreadful ND team, a poor Div. II team and then got our asses handed to us twice in our own conference...today by a team that we just knew we should and would beat. We're down two and the tough part of the schedule is ahead with Clemson, Maryland, Miami, VT and UGA. I guess I should add NC to that list, since UVA handed it to us today.

So realistically, those who are negative about the rest of the year have the stats to back it up. That is not to say that we cannot be spoilers and nothing could please many of us more than beating the dawgs. But our lofty aspirations appear to have been dashed, dismantled and all but destroyed.

We have a lot of things to work on and what better time than now to get started. We need to learn how to block; we need to learn how to tackle; we need to learn how to catch the ball. We have some good young players who appear ready and able to take over for veterans who cannot or will not get it done. We need to finish this year on a high note and with optimism for next season.

Somebody has lots of work to do...either Chan or Drad.

Edited to add: I think we should scrimmage tomorrow if not tonight.

I agree...I was talking about if we lose to Clemson, then Dwyer should get the majority of the carries from there on out. However, I do think that JD might be the better of the two.

Mustang,
How we finish the season:
I'm sad to say but I don't see us winning but 3 or 4 more games now. I'm hoping now that we can just come out with a .500 for the year.
Reason:
This team is just not getting the job done anymore. Yes, they did come from behind and go ahead for a while but that was about it.
On paper, they look about the same as UVA. On the field, I'm not impressed.
The blame:
Blame seems to be spread all across the board.
If it's not the OL, it's the DL, if it's not the QB, it's the Db's. If it's not the refs, it's the coaches............on & on & on. Fact of the matter is
we just are not getting the job done.
I've been a CCG supporter since he came to GT. At this point in time, I can't see much he's doing to keep that support.
Optimism/pessimism:
I've also as many others here, have been the optimistic cheerleader for a number of years. Today, I'm about as pessimistic as they come.
I'm ready for this bunch to start showing something and that is from the AD, Coaches to the water boy.
I'm not axing Chan but I do think he needs to be the one to take measures to right this thing.
Any comments are welcome but I feel kinda like RM2 stated earlier. It's just like we got hit in the gut and winded for about 30 minutes.

after seeing what Bowden did to tenuta last year and how he has mocked Tenuta since then, we'll see what Tenuta has in him. I think this is the most difficult game left on the schedule at this point though I think we could win. I'd put the odds at 30/70 right now.

Oh, we'll win 7 games this year, I can guarantee that. Maybe 8. But if one of those 7 isn't UGA, Chan's a goner.

I hate to disappoint, but UVA isn't going to lose two or three games in the ACC. Their schedule is very easy this year.

I agree that it is refreshing to see some optimism from someone. Tech can still have a successful season, but something has to happen quick. We beat a bad ND team and an average DI FCS(AA) team, not D-II (There is a big difference between the two). If we win out in the conference we should still make the ACCCG. I don't see anyone else doing the same. If we lose one more then we are playing for a bad bowl game.

The UGAY game means nothing at this point except for bragging rights. Of course I would like to have those bragging rights back for once.

We need to take one game at a time at this point. Before the BC and Virginia game we were looking at the season as a whole and not focusing on one game, hopefully Chan can change that this week.
