Amato\'s recruiting tactics

Bowden's status has been an issue for years. And with the contract nearing its end, it had to be addressed. A slick move by North Carolina State head coach Chuck Amato, a former FSU assistant coach, made sure the issue was handled during the recruiting process.

"Amato's good. I like Amato," Wetherell said. "He took a contract and laid it out in front of a kid. He took the one page - 'Says right here, 2004, it's over. Bobby's not going to be your coach, Son.'"

"He didn't show him the second page, which said it's a lifetime contract. It's a recruiting ploy. That problem we fixed.

Re: Amato\'s recruiting tactics

It's interesting to read that and read what Kenny Scott had to say about us being upfront and not using negative recruiting so to speak.

On FSU... This might be different than the past because Bowden is a year older and they've had problems in the program on the field and off to deal with. Will they load up late? I'm not a beating man, but I wouldn't beat against them if I was. Think they'll load up on signing day.

I'm just glad we landed one they were after late in Kenny Scott.

Go Jackets!

Re: Amato\'s recruiting tactics

I just don't understand how any kid or any parent of a kid being recruited would want him to play for Chucky Amato. If that slick bastard walked into my living room and gave me his crock of crap speel, I'd laugh right at him. He's about as transparent as they come.
