Many of the Fans of Chan would have had us believe that questioning chan's status as HC hurt our program. Now that the deed has been done, many of these fans of chan continue to say it was a bad decision and we will see many 3-8 seasons. Also, we should be happy with 7-5, because we can never compete with football factories. Who is hurting the program now? Will these FOC get behind the new coach, whomever he may be? Discuss

Hmmmm. Think Boston College(we don't have a Matt Ryan, i know i know). I for one, beelieve we have the players already to beat EVERY team on the schedule. I don't buy the idea that we will lose just because of a HC change. I think just the opposite, we may just blow it up next year.

I don't think it's any question it's had an effect -witness reporters calling some of our recruits and their responses.

I've seen very few, maybe 3-4 posts, saying it was a mistake. I've seen a few posts saying next year will be a down year due more to how many seniors graduate than losing Chan. I've seen NONE predicting "many 3-8 seasons".

No. You have not seen anyone post that. Ya gotta link?

While there may be have been a small handfull of "FOCers" who were enamored of Gailey personally, the vast majority supported him because (pay attention, Bandit - this is key) he was the head coach of the Georgia Tech football team. And that same majority will support the next guy for the same reason.

Furthermore, I will predict that many of the same people who so loudly and obnoxiously called for Gailey to be fired for years will be calling for the new guy's head when their choice for QB is sitting on the bench, or a timeout is called in the first quarter, or after the first loss.

Not sure what your agenda is....but its appears to be built on false premises.

Our schedule next year plays well for a new coach. Our toughest games are on the road, which means our home schedule will be weak, which will allow some time to learn the new schemes.

Assuming we will add another Jax St type team to the home schedule, we will have Jax St 1, Jax St 2, and Duke at home. FSU, Miss St, and Miami are no better than we are. We should be favored in each of those games due to the home field. UVa tends to struggle when they come down here as well.

UNC will be our best chance at a road win.

While I don't think we will compete for a conference crown the first year a new coach is here, our weak home schedule should help us to at least match this seasons success. And that is without the help of 8 All-ACC players. This year was such a missed opportunity. Hopefully, those seniors will be spoiling to whip someone in thier final bowl game!

I agree.
My concern is the Road Schedule with: UGA, Clemson, VT, UNC, and BC.

Very tough IMO.

I think we are going to have a few boneheaded mistakes due to the players learning a new scheme (or two). Those mistakes would be deadly to any of the above teams (except maybe UNC) at home. We are probably doomed to lose more than we win from that group above regardless of where we play next year. So I don't mind turning a 7 point loss at home into a 17 point loss on the road.

The only two games that I would like to have at home that are on the road are UGA and BC. By the time we face UGA, we should have worked out the kinks of the new coach. If we have a good coach, we should actually improve as the season builds. BC is an unknown. I don't know how good their new QB will be, or if he will freeze up in his first few road trips. For all of the good BC has done this year, they haven't gotten their backup QB much playing time. Maybe it is just a NFL thing.
