Groh getting fired was warranted due to not getting his message across. Castillo was a scapegoat. He shouldn't have been hired as the DC in the first place. Reid and Morniwheg has crippled Vick and that Offense by not using McCoy, who is one of the best RB in the league

Sounds to me like the reporter was doing his job. Tossing softballs is Chip Towers job. Most other beat reporters should be asking the questions that the fans want to know - and in difficult times that means difficult questions.

I will say this - on the spectrum of crazy coaches ('crazy' in how they handle the media), CPJ is trending away from Les Miles and towards John L Smith.

Is he "blaming players" with that quote? No, I don't think so. He's being truthful. He's basically just saying that his offensive scheme is sound, but you still need players to run it.

    Exactly.

This is what cracks me up when guys see a dive blown up and automatically blame TW for a bad read. TW reads the DE, but the OL has to execute their blocks for the dive to work. It's not magic: make the correct read = automatic hole in the defense.

I would always start with asking, "Can I ask you something without making you mad?"

That immediately sets the correct tone for what is about to follow.

I think you're reaching. He's taken the blame more than anything and trying to address things.

I have a couple serious questions for you in order to understand your position better.

First the set-up: Thinking way back to our last game against CU, CPJ noticed that they were crashing their corners in run-support against a-back motion, so he called play actions that exploited the fact that the WRs became uncovered. We hit three passes in 4 plays (1 2yd dive by Sims) in an 83 yd TD drive because CPJ was able to identify and exploit a weakness in their defensive scheme.

    Questions:
    1) Do you agree with the last sentence? That the play calls were good in-game coaching that led to the score? If not, please explain why.

    2) If so, imagine the same situtation but now after Sims 2yrd dive on 1st down the receiver drops the second down pass that lands right in his hands in stride and the qb then overthrows the third-down pass so that as a result we have to punt rather than having a touchdown.

What would the appropriate answer be? Are the same play-calls now bad coaching? Or does this situation just reflect a lack of execution?

If said WR dropped the pass or QB overthrew, they were not adequeately prepared enough or the coach did not recruit or play the right guy to make the play and that is on coach.. In college, since no players are paid, the coach ultimately takes all responsibility

Is that not putting down his players at the expense of his scheme? "My offense would've won but our players aren't good enough" is how that reads to me. Which is absolutely throwing the players under the bus.

is someone paying you to act really stupid? thats what it seems like. or your just a trolling clown

in the nfl you can make trades and sign who you want when you want. its not even close to what college football is like, or what it is about

a "lame duck" QB? thats rich

If the coach is ultimately responsible for everything, why would he need to even mention that in a news conference? Does that not make any criticism of Groh or anyone an equal criticism to himself? Is not then ANY admission of failure throwing himself under the bus?
