I'm just screwing around and looking at all of our recruits heights and weights on Rivals, and Malcom is 6'3 196. The weight isn't an issue because of our strength and conditioning program but 6'3 is a little tall for a LB....and I see that he runs a 4.5.

does he get a shot at safety?

Not saying you have a bad idea. If he's one of the best 11 defenders, get him on the field somewhere. But, 6'3" isn't tall for a LB at all. D.Smith, K.Fox, and G.Wilkinson were all around or above that height. 6'3" could be considered ideal for an LB. It also means it will be easy for him to carry more muscle weight. He'll probably end up 220-230lbs. There are/have been several players who could play either safety or lb though around that height and weight - D.Landry, C.Reis, K.Fox, T.Clark just to name a few. The more important issues are mentality and hip flexibility for coverage. Do they have a linebacker mentality (defeat blocks and knock someone's head off) or a safety mentality (read and come up and make a tackle in space or cover the 4.4 guy running the post)?

Keith Brooking was 6'3", 195 when Tech signed him......he weighed 240 as a senior.

Regarding Munroe, scout lists his 40 time as 4.66.

We are going to be hurting at safety and special teams now as we've lost a lot of guys in the same body type.

I don't think so, but with a more bulk he would be just about the ideal cover two MLB.

That said, with our new DC's penchant for playing man coverage, with a little more speed he could be rover-type safety.

He was listed at 6'3" for 4 years at Tech.

Not unusual for a player to be listed an inch taller than he is though.

was not calling you out....just thought I would post it for a reference...no harm intended. I know, as do most, that stats (height/weight) are often skewed...easy...
