Anybody have any 411 on the 80+ HS recruits in attendance yesterday?

Is that who always walks right past the band/student section with what appears to be their families? They were being cheered during pre-game yesterday and I've never know who those people are.

Yep. A ton of students always yell "COME TO TECH!!" at them before the game. :D

I know that the TV guy, said he walked by all of them and said they looked like NFL players. he said they were big.. This comes from an ex-player himself...I forget his name, he is Raycom's main ACC football announcer.

If this game didn't impress them, then they just have to be too stupid to come to GT... it was a perfect recruiting tool in terms not only of beating a "name" school, but it also showed the 80+ kids how CPJ isn't afraid to have true freshmen out there playing, and that's not the case everywhere else at all.

The only thing that would have been better is for us to have a bigger turnout.

Tech just doesn't show up well for summer noon games.

I agree completely... One sad thing is that the stadium had so many empty seats. I know Miss St. didn't bring many people but hopefully as the winning continues the size of the crowd will continue to grow.

Some of the kids that we had in yesterday looked very good. Nice size and no slobs. Well respected and also had some hotties with them. I saw them at YJA and they all seemed to be having a good time and the fans were encouraging.

I thought Mississippi State brought in a decent crowd. It would have been nice to see the stadium filled by more Tech fans, not opponent's fans. We were 2-1, playing an SEC school, and should have had another 5 to 6 thousand in attendance.

What? Yesterday was the best noon game turnout I've seen in years. A lot of the students were paying very little attention to what was going on, but I thought the turnout was great for a non-conference early game.

Well as far as I can tell, due to the noon start people end up tailgaiting wayyy late. I was sitting in the south endzone student section and it didn't start filling up till after halftime oddly enough (though they might have been refugees from the north stands getting hammered by the sun).. I know my friends on the golf team didn't show up till well into the second quarter. people just get up around 10:30-11 on saturdays, start drinking, then don't end up at the stadium till after 1, if at all.. many students with tickets end up choosing to just watch it in their dorms and continue to drink. Sucks, but such is life at the gt games that start so early.

And yet the turnout for the Jax State game was higher.

Perhaps everyone complaining about opening on Thursday Night should shut the hell up. Hrmm..

I don't understand why the turnout for the JAX St game was higher; but from what I saw it was. Saturday may have been a noon kickoff; but it was a nice day and not too hot. If people ate tickets Saturday rather than come to the game, I don't understand that either. This was a fun game for Tech fans, if you missed it then it is on you. The current crop of Tech fans are just fickle.

I agree, aeromech. Saturday was an extraordinary day for Tech football, IMHO. The weather was outstanding, the game was outstanding and our O execution was outstanding. It was one of those days when everything came together. Too bad more Tech fans weren't there to enjoy it and JD's record-setting run from scrimmage. :)

Noon games suck, but if these recruits weren't impressed by a true freshman QB leadding a stomping on a SEC team, then they're not going to be impressed anyway.

One demographic that hurts with noon start times is the family.

The typical family of four with kids between 5 and 12....should they be sports fans...have kids that do what on Saturday?....play Pop Warner football and US Youth soccer.

We were going to go with another family (8 tickets total) if the game was 5:00pm or later (we live 5 hours away)....but the early time killed us as all of our kids had games that did not end until 11:00am.

Now....if we lived in ATL and our games ended at 11:00am we would have been there in our darn uniforms!!
