A UGA loss would CEMENT Iowa's place in the BCS. I guarantee the BCS doesn't want a 2 loss UGA (with one loss being in the last game) and the pups would be headed to the Citrus or Cotton if Arky got in.

I hate the Big 10 as much as anyone, but a one-loss team from a BCS conference deserves the at-large a lot more than a 2 loss UGA or ND.

Not if Uga can hold onto the #4 BCS slot in spite of the loss. BCS rules hold that the top four BCS teams are garanteed a BCS bowl. I really don't know if this is possible mathematically, it seems like a long shot.

In all likelihood Iowa may have ended up with BCS anyway, regardless if they didn't have anywehere else to go or not. I just don't approve of the Big 10's attempt to strong arm the BCS into selecting Iowa.

A UGAg loss in the SECC will give Iowa a slot in the BCS whether we like the Big 10 or not. If UGA does get a BCS slot after a loss ahead of Iowa or USC then that would just verify that the SEC plays the politics better than the Big 10 or Pac 10. At least detest them while you are detesting the Big 10 for playing the only hand available to them.

..this morning I read that the BCS has already assured Iowa a slot. I thought that was strange seeing how Iowa is only #5 in the BCS rankigs. Then I read this story <click here >
It seems that no such thing has occured. The only thing that has happened is the Big Ten has released its bowl eligible teams for selection among the lower bowls. What they have essentially done is try to force the BCS to take Iowa as an at-large team. I guess they felt threatened that Iowa might possibly be left out with the selection of N.D. I personally do not like the Big 10, detest this back-hand tactic to force Iowa in and would love for this to blow up in their face. And it would happen if UGa loses to Ark. and Washington St. beats UCLA. Arkansas and WSU would then get the automatic bids, while Southern Cal and UGA (depending on how far they drop) would get the 2 at large bids. This would leave Iowa out of the BCS and with no Big 10 Bowl to go to since they have now been accounted for.

Does Iowa deserve to go? Sure, you bet. But is the BCS more about making money? You better believe it. And like it or not, N.D. in the BCS generates more money.
