AP Poll - We didn't lose any ground

I think you made the mistake of thinking people that vote actually watch the games or even look at the box scores.

Since Sagarin counts SOS and point differential, did we drop in Sagarin this week?

We did lose ground. We got 59 votes last week, but only 25 this week. That is a pretty big deal.

I was referring to the supposed 30th place ranking, not the number of votes. And I'd hardly call it a "pretty big deal" by any stretch of the imagination.

Winning cures all. A win at Clemson gets us into the top 25.

I hope not. I still don't want us to be ranked yet. I guess I'm still used to Chan-era team where once we get ranked cause of a big win, we'll lose to whoever we play the week after and fall right out.

Clemson is supposed to be an inferior team now. At the beginning of the season, this game against Clemson was supposed to be a game people expected us to lose. Now, it's a game we're supposed to win.

It's a lose-lose situation for us because if we win, it was supposed to happen. If we lose, people will say we weren't that great in the first place and go back to criticizing CPJ's system.

If we beat Clemson and still don't crack the top 25, at 6-1 and 3-1 in the ACC, then something is wrong. There are currently 28 teams from BCS conferences with 1 loss or fewer. There are four matchups between 1 loss teams on Saturday so there will be no more than 24 when the next polls come out. Not to mention that this 28 number is including teams from Cincinnati and Northwestern who haven't proven anything and aren't close to being ranked right now.

The top 25 isn't some sort of grading system; 25 teams have to fill the slots regardless of whether there are 25 really good teams in football.

I don't understand this fear of being ranked (although I am happy we weren't ranked after beating Duke now). It's nice to be the underdog and everything, but if we ever want to be regarded as anything above just another mediocre team from a BCS conference then we're going to have to be consistently ranked.

We've proven as much or more than many of the teams that are ranked or close to being ranked. I see no reason for us to not be ranked if we beat Clemson.

If we beat Clemson we should be ranked based off the number of 1 loss teams alone.

More important than any rankings is a win at Clemson along with a BC win hosting VT.

My problem isn't that we aren't ranked. I'm not surprised we're not and I doubt even if we'd hung 70 points on GW this weekend we'd be ranked. My problem is with the lunacy of the voters. FSU gets more points then we do? After a bye week? After they barely managed to hold on during last weeks cock slapping contest with Miami? Really?

And I have no doubt that, unless we beat Clemson by at least 40 points, we'll still have less votes then Free Shoes. This season has shown me that the people that vote in the polls are damn near retarded, and probably don't spend much time watching football.

unless we blow out clemson we won't be ranked, but it really doesnt matter yet...

Beating uga and making it to/winning the ACCCG are what we should focus on. If we achieve that, the ranking will undoubtedly come.

Vandy's still ranked, their one loss is to unranked Miss State.
GT isn't ranked, our one loss is to ranked VT.
Miss State got destroyed by GT, and beat Vandy.

Riight...
