Get ready for the "I don't want to be ranked because I'm still in Gailey-mode" comments to ensue.

Doesn't apply because NC is ranked higher than us. Under the Chan-clause, you can win while being ranked, but only if the opposition has a better rank. ;)

Im tired of hearing the name Chan. He is no longer here. This is CPJs team.

The '05 VPI game and '06 Clempsun games say hello. But as Eric said, the point is moot now.

Seeing the way the polls fell made me breathe a sigh of relief that we dodged a bullet this week by not having B*** L**** as our head coach.

That was more of an early season type thing. GT would win 2-3 games pretty convincingly, get to #17 or so, then plummet the rest of the season.
That coach was terrible in November too, anyone feel like compiling the rcord for that month?
This late in the year you need to be ranked to get attention and get good bowl bids.

I'll bite...Give me a minute.

Ok, here we go...

From 2002-07, we were 14-17 in games after Nov. 1. We were 30-15 before Nov. 1.

I wish we weren't ranked, and I'll tell you why: This is just like the 1893 game against St. Albans. We were riding high at 2-0 after beating Georgia in the season opener and then defeating the mighty Mercer Bears. Lee Corso talked all week about how there was NO WAY Georgia Tech could lose to St. Albans, especially on Homecoming. And then what happened? St. Albans shocked the world and beat us 6-0. And the next game was a double goose-egg sister-kisser against Auburn. We thought we were the kings of football at 2-0 only to finish the year 2-1-1. I think we need to post the 1893 Mercer and St. Albans scores all over the lockerroom to guard against a letdown and fend off any bad luck spirits. I'm telling you, if we lose, you can thank St. Albans. Incidentally, they thrashed us again in 1902 and have refused to play us ever since. We are not just up against UNC. We're up against the St. Albans curse.

That Heisman fella was a total hack. Never could get us up to play against inferior opponents. Sure, we could kick around the powerhouses like Sewanee and Washington & Lee, but we get our a$$es handed to us when we played sorry teams like St. Albans, Davidson, and the dreaded 11th Cavalry.
