App St vs. Coastal

Bill Lewis was the hot name when we hired him from East Carolina. 11-1 the season before we hired him. Only lost to Illinois by 7 in the opening game of 1991. Beat South Carolina, Syracuse, Pitt, Virginia Tech, and NC State (in the peach bowl). The hottest name on coaching. GT fans were genuinely excited we were about to become a ööööing powerhouse. There was NOBODY who had doubts about the hire. High scoring team with a defensive minded coach at the helm, had been DC at UGAg for 7 or so years in the 80's.

Anyway, we know how that worked out

Yeah but Bill Lewis didn't run the option

Are you ööööing retarded? You sound ööööing retarded. You're ööööing retarded.

ööööing retard. Shut up.
Do you want to fight? Are you near Calhoun? I can meet you at Buc'ees. And no, that is not a mag-lite in my pocket.

What are you talking about? Look around and tell me who the "hot name" is. You can either check the threads and avatars on stingtalk, or the fact that College GameDay went to Jackson, Mississippi while 7-1 Chadwell will be playing tonight.

Oh JJ, you learn nothing in life if you think you're right all the time.

You'd better sheathe that ööööing sword compadre.

And I know just where you can put it.

I wonder what things were like with ECU when Bill Lewis was there and 7-1? He had victories already over South Carolina, Syracuse, and Pittsburgh

Well, he is right about the history of the Bill Lewis hire. :shtstir: We can debate about whether Chadwell would follow a similar path. Actually Chadwell can't follow the Bill Lewis path because we aren't anything like a top 25 team at present.

That year was also Bill Lewis' only season with a winning record as a head coach, with 5 or 6 losing records before then across ECU and Wyoming and then everything that came after. Chadwell isn't without criticism as an option but he's on track to win 3 double digit win seasons in a row. Just isn't a comparison.

Bill Lewis had 1 winning season in 6 years coaching prior to coming to GT.

Jamey Chadwell has 9 winning seasons in 13 years coaching.

I don’t see the comparison. Every program Chadwell coached at was markedly better when he left than when he arrived. Three of them had arguably the best run in school history when he was coach. Again, I see no comparison whatsoever other than both coming from smaller schools.

The comparison is Bill Lewis was a hell of a DC, supposedly, at UGAg for 7 years. He looked to have it figured out with victories over D1 schools like South Carolina, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, and NC State.

Care to tell me what game is the signature win(s) of Coastal Carolina?
