2007 is fading fast and I've seen my last Tech game for another season. Great disappointments against the Dawgs, Hokies, Eagles, and today. Lost opportunity at College Park and Charlottesville.
Highlights were the opener in South Bend and the wins over Clemson and Miami.
I want to thank the players for their efforts. Guys like Brooks, Choice, and Guyton are among favorites who have finished their careers. These kids won their seven games but were roundly criticized by the local media and much of their fan base. The '07 season could not have been much fun to play for Tech from about October on. This past month was particularly trying for them all. I wish Coach Johnson well in turning that around for the players.
I also appreciate the coaches who coached at Tech. Coach D was an excellent teacher of offensive linemen. At camp I saw firsthand his capacity to teach my son and others the best techniques for pass blocking. A young guy like Coach Bond rolled the dice and came up empty coming to the staff in the year Chan was fired. Coach Tenuta was a good coordinator for us. The young coaches turned recruiting around for us and I am told by some friends in coaching that relationships with the Tech staff improved greatly among Georgia high schools during the past several years. They all worked hard and wanted to win. I wish them the best and thank them all for time spent serving the Institute.
May each coach and player meet nothing but success in 2008 and beyond and best wishes to the new staff and returning players as well.
