Are there any positives to point to?

I am serious, Pollyannas, please list them if you saw anything that gives you encouragement. I saw nothing new, nothing improved, and plenty of things deteriorating.

Nesbitt looked promising for the 3 snaps he was given. JJ had an off night for someone who was open. Help anyone???

Absolutely nothing. In fact we will be lucky to beat Duke & UNC at this rate.

The defense is playing with all their heart tonight. They've had several sacks and they are giving it their absolute all.

I am officially done with watching this. There is nothing to say except the near future is in stone now. Anyone care to argue that prophecy?

No. But look at it this way, this is another game closer to Gailey being fired

Other than JD --nothing.

But that was off-set with watching the misery that is JW-D at corner --just awful.

Dwyer looked very good.

Just imagine what he could do with some coaching.

"Promising" is a very loose term. He reminded me a lot of Bilbo. Very athletic but probably not best used as a QB.

Dwyer, on the other hand, looks great running the football.

Yea, the ESPN girl look good tonight, and I can play golf on Sat for the rest of the football season.

I think there were a few things...
  • Dwyer looked awesome. Big & strong... wouldn't go down, but also showed speed against a fast VT defense and read his blocks better. Of course Chan didn't put him into the game until it was too late.
  • Nesbitt was really impressive, too. He has the Tebow-like ability to pick up a chunk of yards on almost every play, and should have played the whole 2nd half, if not before. I think if he did we would have had a shot.
  • Michael Johnson is a FREAK and for the life of me I don't know why he isn't playing every down. That pursuit sack was ridiculous not to mention the blocked FG. We wasted Calvin now MJ will only start one full year during his Tech career...
  • JJ had the fumble & should have made that catch on the trick play (probably 50/50 blame with JN) but he finally looked healthy and made some plays.
That's about it. Everything else was terrible...

- Dwyer looked great. He's only held out by inexperience and our OL's lack of a solid push for a guaranteed first few yards.
- The front 7 seemed to play pretty well. A good bit of pressure on VT's QB and gave up little to VT's running game until it got out of hand. They just had a secondary that got burned over and over and over again for constant 5-15 yard gains.
- JN's running looks pretty damn good, much better than Reggie's ever was. If he ever develops even a mediocre arm, he'll be extremely dangerous for defenses.
- There were more nice looking girls than normal in the stands tonight. Too bad this game probably turned them off to Tech football for life.

BTW, rambleON, I would give JN all the blame for the JJ overthrow. That would have been one miraculous catch with how much Nesbitt overthrew it.

Dwyer showed a physical aspect to his game that I did not know he had. Durant Brooks was good as always. Travis Bell didn't miss a field goal. The crowd booed Chan when he told us not to drive home drunk.

That's about all I can think of.

You're right about the girls. I was (am) out of town for this game and I kept pausing and rewinding the DVR to see if it was my Tech Goggles kicking in if or they were wearing Hokie colors. Things are looking up in "recruiting" ....

As for the JN throw... I'm still a little conflicted because it seemed like JJ had enough time to move to the left or turn his hips, and then wouldn't have had to make an impossible over-the-shoulder grab. He may not have the speed to catch up to it though, so you may be right.

1. V chili dog was excellent
2. My dad went with me to the game. We had a great time
3. The "sit down in front" rhetoric had a well-done witty flare to it tonight
4. Micheal Johnson
5. 4th interception at beginning of 4th encouraged me to depart without any remorse
6. My valiant effort to remain moderate in all things was completely destroyed

We wasted Calvin? He led the ACC in catches, yards, and TD's!! He was our entire offense!
MJ doesn't start but gets much PT. He's part of the rotation with Robo and AO and those two guys make alot of plays as well.
