Besides RN? If not, why? That doesn't seem to make any sense to me. It seems that the defensive HC's out there that are real successful are at school with huge talent advantages (Stoops, Pete Carroll, Saban, Tuberville, etc.). It seems like these guys were OK (Tub at Ole Miss and Saban at Mich St.) and then became great when the got to schools with huge talent advantages.

Almost all of the top 25 teams have offensive minded HC's. I am not saying it is the rule but it seems we would be interviewing more offensive guys other than RN.

Someone please explain? Where are the Hatchers, Johnsons, Dan Mullens, Chris Petersons?

That is why its kind of hard to really beleive in all of these "inside sources", it just doesn't make any sense.

I agree completely.

One can only hope that somehow, they are flying under our radar....

I think he was referring to you scatman...you came on this board acting as an "insider" but now you have the same questions everyone else has.

Recently, our best defenses have been under an offensive HC and our best offenses have been under a defensive coach.

Maybe we're looking for the coach with the best staff he plans to assemble.

I have a couple of sources and I will only post info as "inside" if I know something 100%.

Wasn't my formal apology enough? :laugher:

Ya man I meant no hard feelings by my post scat. It's just that your not the first person to come in here and say they have insider knowledge and later be found out(not saying you don't...but it's happened before). Coming after dem immediately didn't help your case either. Demjackets makes this board what it is today, without him we would just be buzzoff or the hive.

I have explained myself to Dem and we are straight now I believe. :fingersx:

Yes you could be right but I think we happened to be the exception to the rule the last 10 yrs. Somewhat of an enigma if you will. Looking at the top 25 tells me a different story when it comes to offensive vs. defensive coaches.

It just seems we would at least interview more offensive guys and maybe we will? Just my observation.

Come on guys...give yourselves a little more credit than that!
Ok so we're also missing the token jackass fonts the other boards have...but as far as breaking news, insider info, and all around intelligent discussion I declare stingtalk the winner.

Guys, we're not hiring an OC, we're hiring a HC.

Great point!

Anyone we are talking to at this point knows enough on both sides of the ball (I hope!)

What we have not had for the last 6 years is a college HFC that gets the whole picture.

The whole picture is running a viable program that is clean and marketable. Winning is a big part but just a part of the whole picture.

TECH needs to reclaim a bigger piece of Atlanta. CG lost the interest of this city in truckload quantities.
Dan's job is to hire someone vibrant that will catch the attention of this town. Gainesville, Macon and Savannah are dawg gone, at least for a long time.

If I'm not mistaken, aren't all of the guys you just listed defensive guys. I know for a fact Carroll was a DC in the pros. Any time you have a offensive coach your defense is going to be better. Anytime you have a defensive coach your offense is going to be better. They is a very very common theme in college and pro football.

If you want our offense to improve, our best beat is to hire a defensive minded head coach. You see what having an "offensive master mind" did for our offense the last 6 years.

Any time you have a offensive coach your defense is going to be better. Anytime you have a defensive coach your offense is going to be better.

Then there are the Spurrier and Meyer counter-examples...

I put this in another thread also, but the Minneapolis Star Tribune is saying that Glen Mason is being considered by us. I believe he comes from the offensive side of the ball.
