NCJ-keep in mind u lose some as u go along(Bennett, Phillips 1.5 yrs, Tarquinio, Dorsey 1.7 gms, etc, etc). Also, some may leave(Vaitakunas). Some are late bloomers(Jason Kemble, 1 terrific yr, 4 DNP). Some don't pan out(Tim Brown, Garren Findlay).
U should be approx 4 deep at every position. That means approx 20 OL in some sort of developement 17-20 is OK.
Within 2 yrs we lose Reilly, Hartley, Dorsey, Robinson, Wallace, Phillips & Tidwell-Neal. Add in attrition, injury & DNP. We could be looking at needing 9-10 ready to play in 2 yrs.
I simply see our OL numbers as low. Does the math make sense to u? It's rough, but it should give a good idea as to how many OL must be in the system to keep from getting caught with your drawers down around the ankles. For arguments sake, some could say we need 4.5/yr counting RSes.
The 1st thing O'L did after taking over was take a class of NINE OL to replenish. 3 yrs later, '98, we were hitting on all cylinders.
