Areas to improve, areas to complement

I thought our punting game was quite good.

The one where we dropped it on the 5 and had a guy running parallel to the EZ to grab it was new. Never seen us run such coverage before - very smart.

Wasn't one of the punts a net gain of 2 yards after the return?

One baddefense: we missed tackling the QB for a loss too much last night. Even the big statue QB who came in escaped contain. We seem to still have that issue. Kenny Pickett had a field day with it last season. Nobody open, just run for 10.

One good defense: gave up 14 on first two drives, only 3 rest of game.

One bad offense: clock management. When we had the ball in the 4th with about 10 minutes left. We snapped the ball with 25 seconds on the game clock on 2nd down, and 14-15 ish seconds on 3rd. We threw incomplete on 3rd and punted. We ran maybe a bit over a minute off the clock. Unacceptable with that lead.

One good offense: I really liked that inside counter (whatever that play is called) handoff that was run once. Caught their defense off guard.

I heard Joe Ham on the radio call saying “Contain, contain, contain”

Hard to contain when DEs are crashing down on the tackles. We didn’t seem to recognize passing plays very well.
