Armed Forces Bowl

I had the opportunity to go to the Armed Forces Bowl in Ft. Worth on 12/31 at Texas Christian University (TCU). It was a great game. I got there after the kickoff and was walking in when Air Force scored their first touchdown. When they went up 21-0 I was thinking I would be gone at half-time. I had an interest in seeing Cal because my son went to school with Justin Forsett. When Cal got DeSean Jackson off the bench (did not start due to infraction) and started throwing to him, it opened up the running game. Justin Forsett ran for 140 yards and 2 scores. He is lightning quick and a pretty good backfield blocker. Any way the Cal turnaround and the disciplined play of Air Force made for a great game. There were a lot of military people there, a group of wounded from Iraq and Afghanistan, overall a very patriotic day. Flyover that I saw from I-30 going in was a Whiskey model Cobra and H-1, then a B-1 Lancer escorted by 2 F-16's. Flyover I heard while parking was just plain loud and powerful (I couldn;t see them due to TCU library blocking view. That was my first bowl game. I will go again. All proceeds from ticket sales (this is what I was told) went to the Families of Downed Servicemen. Good cause. Also, AirForce ran a lot of toss sweeps like we used to do with Robert Lavette. Some of their offense may be like what PJ brings to the flats.

GO Jackets.
