How are we doing on finding a 12th ballgame for next season after Army dropped us. Anybody in the know?

given the way things have been going for them lately, why not play the falcons? :D

we are already playing likes of Samford, jack state, we need a serious team.

I think you have some bad information. We do not play Samford next year.

We actually need to add a cupcake.

We already have home games against:

Mississippi St (bowl team)
FSU (bowl team)
Virginia (bowl team)
Miami (they will be back...have to with that talent)

We play away at:
clemson (bowl team)
Georgia (bowl team and maybe pre-season top 3)
Boston College (bowl team)
Virginia Tech (bowl team)

That is 8 games we could be underdogs going into. The other three are North Carolina (Butch Davis will continue to get them rolling), Duke, and Jack St.

This schedule we not only received our normally tough divisional schedule...but perhaps the three best teams in the other division in Clemson, BC, and FSU. Then...throw in SEC teams Miss. St. and Georgia.

That is a tough schedule.

Actually...at this time of year we will be lucky to find anyone...Army really screwed us.

As I've pointed out the obvious in past posts, the road schedule next year scares me to death.

UGA
Clemson
VT
BC
UNC

We may be hard pressed to win any of these. I hope I'm wrong, but this could be bad.

We also need another warm-up date with this entirely new offense before we play Miss. St. on Sept. 20.

We play Jack. St. on August 30. We were supposed to play Army on Oct. 11. I have hoping we move an ACC opponent to Oct. 11 and have another cupcake on Sept. 6 or 13th...and an off-date the other weekend. ....unless it is Duke or something.

I'd much rather play a lower-tier I-A team (i.e. North Texas, Idaho, Ball State, Rice, etc) than a I-AA cupcake. At least with a mid-major, you can more than likely beat them down without getting trashed for playing a lower division team.

Who gets trashed for playing lower division teams? Noone, unless you're in contention for a BCS title - and I'm pretty certain that will not apply to us next year.

I guess I should've said up until the re-instatement of the 12th game. Before then, it was more unacceptable than it is now. Just MHO, but they're in a lower division for a reason. In 95% of the cases (except Appy State and a few others), it's a cheap win in which you get no credibility.

I think most teams schedule 1 lower division team (Notre Dame is the only one I can think of that doesn't - but they usually play at least 2, if not all 3, of the service academies) with the 12 game schedule. I hope we can find a lower D1-A team to fill the slot (I don't think you can count 2 D1-AA teams toward bowl eligibility) but even if we do have to schedule a lower division team, our schedule is already difficult enough with a new coach and an entirely new offensive (and perhaps defensive) philosophy.

I hope Dan Radakovich realizes it hurts your BCS ranking when you play D-II teams. In fact, it doesn't even count as a win at all according to the computers.

Yeah, that's a major concern for us.

Let's pick up Navy and give them a home and home.
I love it there and comparing the two teams during the game would be fun.

who do folks assume BC will be so good next year?

IO don't get the BC lovefest next year. Is there any wya BC doesn't finish last in that division next year? they lose their QB, their OL, and a ton of 5th year seniors. They went 6-3 this year in the ACC with as much senior talent as any team has ever had. I just don't see BC being better than 3-5 in conference next year. FSU, I don't see them being better than 4-4.

The other division IMO looks like this:

1. CLEM
2. WAKE
3. MD
4. FSU/NCSU
6. BC

I think our conference schedule next year is quite favorable especially considering the level of play in the ACC the last 2 years compared to the SEc, Pac 10, Big 12, etc.

We need another good home game so we can sell tickets. That home schedule will leave lots of empty seats which means fewer dollars on ticket sales than thias year.

I don't know about you but I quit accepting mediocrity a few weeks ago.

Oh, I forgot how easy it is to install an entire new offense with personnel that doesn't fit it meanwhile losing a number of key defensive starters to graduation. And on top of that, try to find the perfect opponent to finish off a BCS Championship type schedule in the 11th hour because an opponent bailed on you last minute.Next year is not going to be easy. Mediocrity has nothing to do with it.
