article on Uremovich

believe the author of the article meant that Uremovich received a commission and not "enlisted" if he was platoon leader I presume he was a commissioned ofc

He was a certified badass, glad he is on our side.
I remember Matt Your a mean son of a vich well, too bad that spinal condition took him out. Props to Jerry the Jacket, as he was the first one I heard use that nickname for him.

Yep Matt was one of my all time . . .

. . . favorite Tech football players. I compare him to a meteor. He burned bright for a short time but any one who ever saw him play will never forget him. He was a natural born leader of men and a fearless competitor. He was defensive captain as a redshirt freshmen and guys a lot bigger than him feared him in the defensive huddle. He was not above kicking his teammates ass if they loafed or missed an assignment. We have not had a defensive leader to match him since that time.

I knew he was over in Iraq and it does not surprise me that he came home as a decorated hero. A great Tech man and a Great American!

Go Matt and Go Jackets!

to clarify: Matt went through Basic, OCS, infantry school, Ranger school, and airborne school. He wanted to do Pathfinder but never got around to it as he was in Iraq too much, Mosul mostly.

i am extremely proud to call Matt a good friend of mine. I am also extremely proud of his service to our country. I remember some of the emails I would get from him in Iraq....unbelievable. I was pretty moved when I attended his graduation from Ranger school @ Fort Benning. I felt like I hadnt accomplished much of anything once I saw that.

One thing I will say about Matt is he brought it everyday, every practice, every workout. he never looked for an easy way out. He was truly someone you could always count on.

When he showed up at GT, it was the summer of 97, he enrolled early i believe. I could tell right away that he was a different breed. All I can say is we sure had a lot of fun.

oh, almost forget, pretty damn good football player as well.

Nate Stimson . . .

. . . another one of my all time favorite Georgia Tech football players. Nate I loved your attitude. I remember the Notre Dame Gator bowl game when you were kicking their offensive linemen's ass so bad they finally resorted to spitting at you in pure frustration. You represented what I consider to be the essence of a great defensive player, a mean SOB with a non stop motor that was looking to inflict damage on the opponent at every opportunity.

I hope we see some of that out of this years D.

Go Jackets!

Nate and Matt are fine young men who did much for GT. They are great examples of men that we want representing us.
