as GT's coach. If you're one of a not insignificant number that objects to his hiring because he's been a dog in his past, what would you think of him if in the press conference he says: "I can't wait until the last game of the season to BOOM! Kick those mommafornicator's butts all over the field!"

Would you feel better about him?

Seriously, if he's hired, he does need to come out with some statement very early that will really win the doubters over.

I agree about him having to make a statement. It is a must. Now if he would just quote you...

You would hope he would not let his mouth overload his ass.

I'm not a WM hater per se (I do have my reservations, but not significantly related to his alma mater), but regardless it would make me feel better to hear a big ole' THWG!! at his introduction press conference if he were to be hired.

Seriously, what is the difference in the way he acts than the way Tenuta acts? Its all about how the coach is doing. Ever1 thinks Tenuta is the greatest, so they dont say anything about the 5 f bombs he drops per minute in the box. Until every1 thinks Muschamp is good, they will find what they can to bash him. Right now its his language and he is a uga grad.

No. Talk is cheap. He needs to show what he's all about when then games start.

I just said I have no problem with any of that - mostly I'd just like to know that he hates ugag, whether he went there or not.

First thing he needs to do is go out and finish off this class with more great football players. Let him scream THWG at the recruiting night.

I would like him to come out and emphsize the importance of "Clean of Fashioned Hate" so the masses will know that he is aware of the game's meaning. I hope, however that he does it in a classy way like Tressel did with tOsu. Mark Dantonio went about the wrong way and now MSU fans as well as him are being ridculed beyond anything they've seen before. Hope WM is very carefull not to overdo it, we don't have the talent to ensure we cash the check his mouth writes.

Part of Gailey's problem was that he apparently attended the George W Bush school of media relations.

If the next guy isn't good with the media and in public, he's the wrong guy.

How could he not understand the importance of the game? He played in it for chrissakes!. He probably understands us better than we do if you think about it. ugag/Auburn, etc., know Tech pretty well. They know how to recruit against us and they know our weaknesses and strengths. Why do you think coaches like to hire assistants from their main rivals?

Good point. My main reservation with WM is if he can conduct himself as a Head Coach, and handle all the management/media/everything else that goes with being the head man. Again, assistant coaches can yell and jump and scream and bash heads (see Erk as DC at ugag) all they want, but the head coach has to display they are in control and maintain a certain dignified collection to themselves most of the time, and bring out the passion when needed.

if he said that at the press conference i would ask for an immediate annullment ala GO'Leavy at ND.

he would have to be a real moron not to show class at his first event as the Head Coach

as HC, you have to know when to say what to whom much more carefully than as a coordinator

Sure WM played in it but most of us know that GT/Ugag is not what the mutt nation considers their main rivalry, they have bigger rivals in Tennessee, UF and AU. If you ask most of their players coaches and fans the GT/Ugag series would consistently be 4th on their priorities list after games against the above mentioned teams. So WM might not fully understand how big this game is for us.

Besides my post wasn't as much about WM knowing the rivalry as it was about his need to be carefull when he talks about it as to not set himself up for ridicule in the case we lose the game, like Dantonio did for MSU with the whole "countdown clock" and "bow down Sparty" comments.
