he is the one that posted the comment. Numerous Tech fans have graduated from ugag (including myself), but AIN'T NO TECH fan pulling for ugag.

I have become a legitimate uf fan b/c of the constant ass whippings they put on the leg humpers.

Also like Spurrier simply b/c he always seems to put the leg humpers in their place.

So this guy saying he pulls for ugag just shows he is NOT a tech fan. He might be able to cover GT sports but not the same as being a fan. It will be very similar to 790 coverage.
 
Last time I checked, the line in the song was not "I'm a Tech fan, but I pull for Georgia like my daddy used to do." I'd rather listen to a US Army beat writer that pulls for the Taliban. The AJC sucks.

In his latest blog post he said that he wasn't the one who posted the comment. It was someone else trying to stir the pot.

True statement. A person can be a UGA graduate and a GT fan. I was a Tech fan before, during and after graduating from UGA.

That being said, a UGA grad that considers himself/herself a Tech fan cannot 'pull' or 'root' for UGA --I do not understand that concept at all.

Hopefully neither now that he has this job. That is the way it is supposed to be.
 
You know, in my line of work, religion/theology, we are taught to be honest and upfront about our presuppositions. Our training teaches us that we surely have preconceived notions about theology before we begin study or discussion. We believe it is healthier to admit and articulate those presuppositions up front; that we will be more objective if we are honest about our presuppositions. The person to mistrust is the person who tells you about religion/theology who claims to be totally objective. Run from them.

The media deals with things in an opposite sort of way. They are taught to claim no bias, that they are indeed objective. I just don't buy that. I think that leads to self-deception and dishonesty, as the media wants to portray itself as having been trained to be unbiased, when that is seldom the case.

A beat writer for the AJC with a UGA degree has been trained to say that he can cover Georgia Tech with no bias. I say, you are only fooling yourself. You would be healthier to say, "As a Georgia alum, of course I want them to win and enjoy my alma mater's success. But, having said that, I can still use my training to provide quality coverage of Georgia Tech football. And, being assigned to cover Georgia Tech, I will also tell you there is reason for me to want them to succeed as it will only enhance the print space I get and the readership I have." Now, that would be believable, and "the proof would be in the pudding".

The Braves beat writer should pull for the Braves if the AJC knew what was good for them. I would be shocked if in Green Bay or Pittsburgh the sports page isn't as homer as the dirty old groper was in the Georgie radio booth.

ALL of the AJC would be biased PRO all of the Georgia University, College and Pro Teams if they knew what was good for them. The GT Georgie game is different since both teams have fans that read the paper. Thanksgiving week they should be careful, but OUR beat writer should be as homer as theirs is.

Papers used to claim to report the news without bias. But (a) sports isn't hard news and (b) any claims by the AJC that they represent unbiased news reporting are beyond outrageous.

I'm trying to imagine what a less professional AJC would look like. Something like Jim Wooten wearing feather boas, 4 inch heels, and Cynthia Tucker's dress into work. Forcing Cynthia Tucker to cover high school sports. Putting the comics on page one and outsourcing the opinions section to a elementary school in India, one that didn't speak English. Selecting articles on the basis of how many times they use the word "dude" or "right on." Dropping the use of AP filler articles and using articles from "the cucumber," a bargain value "the onion" knock-off. Refusing to use "the" "and" or "or" because they waste ink. Printing op eds by Ann Coulter and Molly Ivins. Daily pin ups of Margret Thatcher and Barney Frank frolicking. Of course, I can't imagine that Bookman could do more than he's doing now. Allowing Larry Munson to edit sports articles. Hiring former Technique writers (I jest). Wall-to-wall coverage of Chipper Jones latest trip to Hooters. Daily discussions with Bobby Cox about why umpires never get it wrong. A Vince Dooley column on integrity. A Sonny Perdoofus article on effective governance. A daily paen to Obama (already done?). Throw in a Britney Spears advice column for teenage girls and I think that would do it. Printing "In Search of Lost Time," one random chapter at a time, in the original, unedited French.

Because unless something like all of that happens, I think they've already hit rock bottom. They have nowhere left to go but bankruptcy court.

John--I've been waiting for someone to answer your query--no one has, so I will try as delicately as I can. I believe you want a definition of a "nadlicker" ( excuse me and ignore this if I misunderstood)--I know you have seen (at sometime in your past) an old flea-bitten, rhummy-eyed, mangy, stinking hound--lying in the shade using his tongue to relive his itching "private parts" (or as I learned as a country boy--gonads)--thus a pure ugly, squat, drooling, bulldog can be described as a nadlicker by an astute observer--and being called one it can count itself lucky to be upgraded to that position.
