Unfortunately we do play second fiddle in the state, especially in national media recognition and coverage, which is half of what the Heisman race is all about. With the numbers he put up both last season and opening at Notre Dame, he should be getting much more Heisman coverage than he is. GT's lack of national reputation is what is holding him back.
Not that he can't win it, or that our program can't gain national recognition. In fact, I think the two are inextricably tied together this year. For Choice to win the Heisman, I think two things have to happen: he has to put up much better numbers than other contenders, and GT will have to either go undefeated or have one loss very late in the season in which Choice still goes for 100+. Obviously if that happens, GT will step right into the national spotlight.
Of course, we just need to take it one step at a time. Take care of business and win the games you're supposed to win(which we have struggled with in the past), and the recognition will come. It has already started with the season opener.
